    338 XPT won't idle

Your right, I do not have the capacity to do a pressure test. I will use your brake cleaner test when it's in a condition to run. I've not been able to find crank seal in part list or even part # for them. Could it be they're using sealed bearings instead ? I've been looking at coils on eBay and...

    338 XPT won't idle

It appears the boot and impulse line is fine but looking like I need a new coil. That couldn't be causing all the problems could it ??

    338 XPT won't idle

ID tag has 334T ???? By looking at the DOM do you think it's worth putting more $$ in to fix whatever it needs ??

    338 XPT won't idle

Well I picked the saw up today and spent several hours trying to solve this problem. It'll start, run, and rev good but getting it to consistently idle has eluded me. It'll idle and then it won't. Just about the time you think finally, it'll die again. It doesn't seem to be sensitive to carb...

    338 XPT won't idle

Well, he still can't get it totally correct so he's selling it to me. New carb, chain and gas/oil caps. Maybe a couple more smalls. I don't need it but couldn't argue price.

    338 XPT won't idle

Doing this from a distance. Friend of mine has the above saw and replaced carb. He's telling me he can't get it to idle (running fast). I told him to readjust L (open) and idle screw then get back with me. To me it sounds like L is tuned lean. Am I missing anything ??

    The Perfect Gas Can…

I'll take the fan favorite vintage vented gas cans from the past.

Any suggestions other than a new carb ?

Well, it looks like the chainsaw gods were smiling on me. Saw starts and runs pretty good although I've not been able to try it on wood yet. Might have an oilier problem, it don't seem to be putting any out. I'll have to look at that when I can try it out on some wood.

Any suggestions other than a new carb ?

So far, so good. I took a chance it would work, and so far it seems I made the right decision. Lots of snow here today so it'll be awhile before I can try and give it a proper tune outside . If a replacement carb was readily available, I would have gotten more aggressive with it, but I was...

Any suggestions other than a new carb ?

Frustration set in and I just rebuilt what I could hoping whatever was under that plate was clean. I used carb cleaner best I could and put it together. I must have got lucky because it fires right up now. I'll have to wait until this snow stops Monday to give it a final tune. It was getting a...

Any suggestions other than a new carb ?

I'm in the process of rebuilding a Walbro K10-HDC carb off my 015 and have run into a snag. This plate will not come out of carb. It must be adhered to the gasket below it. I've tried everything I can think of without destroying the carb without success. Just no way to get under the plate and...

    Most popular pole saw

I hadn't considered a battery powered unit because the only battery power tools I have, is 18V Makita and Dewalt drills. I really don't want to go with another battery tool. It wouldn't get used enough to keep the battery healthy. But thanks for your thoughts on them. 2 strokes I can get along with.

    Most popular pole saw

I've been starting to seriously consider getting one of these. I know they're not cheap so I thought I'd ask you folks. I'm going to be looking at Stihl and Echo. Of those two, which seems more popular among the people that use pole saws a lot.

    Need Husqvarna 51 Brake handle

I bought one of the eBay aftermarket brake assemblies for my 51. The one I purchased was less then $22 and did the job. This was the seller (anter_made). The assembly's range in price but since I was selling the saw this was my choice.

    Stihl 015L

I have a carb kit coming for this and was wondering what the rough adjustment for the high and low jets? Zama's usually are 1 for low and 1-1/2 on High as starting point. This has Walbro HDC-17 When I removed them the low was 1/4 and the high was 3/4. That cant be right. It ran when I got it but...

    Stihl 015L

Thanks, I figured it would be but it don't hurt to get 2nd opinion. Saw is like new but need a carb kit and probably fuel line.

    Stihl 015L

Hi guys, got an easy question for the Stihl whizzes. According to chainsaw collectors site, the 015L runs a 25:1 mix where the other 015 models run 50:1 Whats up with that ?? I run 40:1 VP synthetic and I'm pretty sure that'll be fine. What's your thoughts ? Thanks
