    "Taking moderator applications"

I spent a lot more time reading on this site than I did posting. I am now done with both as long as MB is around. I wouldn't say that Vet was a friend, but at least some of his posts were worth reading. MB brings nothing worthwhile to this forum that makes me better at tree work. The Signal to...

Learning to climb and having trouble.

Hope you don't plan on keeping that yard tree for long. Spiking is bad for trees. You should only spike trees that are being removed.

Too old to start an Arborist Apprenticeship?

I started climbing at age 50. That was almost 7 years ago. I don't climb near as much anymore because of a wrist injury from an auto accident in Jan 2013. Maybe not as fast as the young dudes, but I did try to work smarter. I say go for it.

I also think you should report him for 'Impersonating an Arborist'.

Can a topped magnolia be saved?

The owner of the tree company was instructed to leave the Magnolia as it was? If so, I sure hope you didn't pay them. Was he the one doing the cutting , or was it some hired flunky? Even if I was told to cut the hedge below the fence, I would double check before cutting a Magnolia TREE that was...

    what did I just cut?

I think it may have been a Yellowwood tree. Very uncommon, but their limited range does include your area.
  16. V

I wouldn't have the guts to attempt this.

A little 'cut and paste' .......... WOW, ballsy.

I wouldn't have the guts to attempt this.

Nope, still get the same error Raintree showed earlier.
  18. V

How many problems can YOU spot with this?

I agree about using a wood ladder around sparks, and I don't see a helmet.

Removing Trees and Logs with Low Access

Probably, but that is sometimes easier said than done.

Removing Trees and Logs with Low Access

I think a winch would be a last choice for the needs of the OP. There is a gas powered dolly available which will help move the trunk chunks. There is a two wheeled cart available that is designed to make moving brush easier. For the first, search Little Helper cart. For the second, search Stein...
