Buying Slab wood vs split wood

I sell the small 1 ft square bundles to gas stations and some campgrounds around this area and thats all I use is slab wood from sawmills. I get around 200-230 small bundles from one big bundle. I got the Smartholder wood holder from Baileys and it works great. Makes cutting a piece of cake...

    A Day In The Woods

Whats that white stuff on the ground? We haven't seen hardly any of that this year. Looks like a good load.

    Round length while cutting

I also never cut alone, my daughter marks the logs for me. I figure I kill several birds with one stone. First, she's not wasting time playing video games, she's outside getting exercise, she learns the value of work, but most important is the quality of time we get to spend together.

    good job son.

Looks a lot drier in your part of Ky than mine. What part of S.E. ky are you in? We use to go riding at Black Mtn. All the time until gas got to high. Kudos to your son, why to show some creativity.

Hand truck for hauling rounds out of the woods.

Bigger tires looks like it work better in rough terrain, good idea though.

    Which Cart for Hauling Firewood

We use a small landscape wagon for picking up small limbs and sticks and it works very well. Our terrain is fairly flat and smooth not sure how it would work on rough terrain.

Look what followed me home monday.

Nice looking ride, being from se ky you need to take it over to Evarts and ride Black Mountain. We used to go there a lot until gas got to high.

Selling "bolts" of firewood rather than cut and split- Fair Price ????

I think that is a fair price especially if it's a good friend. You may want to take some of the smaller wood and wrap it up in small bundles and sell it for bbq wood or for smokers. I wish there was some pecan wood up here in Ky, would love to smoke some meat with that. I sell bundles of hickory...

    wind

Here in Ky there are enough hills to usually break up a wind. Yes we do get occasional 25+ mph winds but they are few and far in between. The only time I really have to cut in the wind is when we get a storm and trees are down on the road. I work for the state hwy dept. and am the "official tree...

    ID this wood

I agree, it definitely looks like a white oak to me also. At first I thought hickory but after really looking at the grain I do believe it's white oak.

    Interestign problem

WOW, I would call that home. You are very fortunate. Good luck figuring out the firewood dilemma, either way I would spend as much time there as possible.
