Possible new bad gas. What should I do?

I am sure either type of gas is capable of having as much water, but what happens to the water is entirely different. In non-ethanol fuel, the water seperates relatively quickly and completely. If you have a filter like a 10 micron Racor with a clear plastic bowl and a drain you can keep...

    Cool Little Saws

The linkage that activates the strato intakes can alsi become misaligned so that it doesn't open fully and as soon as it should. That plus the increased number and complexity of intakes that have to align correctly and seal increases the odds of problems. Of course, I'm sure you have a pat...

    Cool Little Saws

I agree with redneck in many ways about the strato aspect of the Gz 4000 they can certainly be temperamental and difficult to get running right because of air leaks around all the Strato equipment and tuning issues but when you get them running right, they run like a Scalded cat, and a really...

    Cool Little Saws

I love the zenoah 40cc saws - Redmax GZ 400/4000 and the multitude of clones sold by everyone from Craftsman to Ryobi. 9 lb powerhead, very strong and responsive. Made in Japan versions are considered higher quality than later chinese models.

    Scrounging Firewood (and other stuff)

Did a bit more scrounging the other day, but rounds getting to big to lift and rain coming, so have to go back for the rest.

Need help on deciding a new saw

Stihl dealers are not noted for helping you stay within your budget 🤣

Need help on deciding a new saw

I think you made the right choice. Many, many people on here will tell you the Echo 590 is probably the best bang for the buck on the market right now. And the really significant thing is you seem to hear that from guys that run Stihls, Huskys or almost any brand of saw, so it is not a...

    Chinese Saw no throttle lock

Why do you want to buy an expensive saw from a dealer that shuns you?

    Poulan 3700, worth fixing?

A wonderful firewood saw. boatloads of torque. D176 mount as mentioned. has a thumb operated manual oiler, as well as automatic one. Sounds like your auto oiler is working to some degree. I would run it for awhile, perhaps running a mix of kerosene or diesel and bar oil to help clean out the...

Need help identifying this log!! 🪵

The PictureThis app is also useful. Also not accurate 100% of the time, but generally pretty good and often when it is wrong it is obvious that it is wrong. Use 2 apps and see if they concur.

    Scrounging Firewood (and other stuff)

Ran my Craftsman version of the GZ 4000 today. Did pretty good job of cutting up some cherry, black walnut, hackberry and maple. Had a Husky 372 clone with a 24" bar with me, but the Craftsman GZ 4000! cut well enuogh I never started the other saw.

    The best 2 stroke oil?

I believe sawdust is not hard enough to score a cylinder

    Scrounging Firewood (and other stuff)

Definitely looks like a GZ 4000 strato intake. Can be a "challenge" to get everything lined up on assembly and not have it leak, for sure. Really a shame they are so convoluted, because when they run right they are such a capable little saw.

    Wood Pile Cover Material?

The silver HF tarps are a pretty good compromise of easy availability, pretty tough and a good price, especially if you catch them on sale. that's what I usually use but I'm sure if you could get a good enough deal on the rubber roofing material or a billboard tarp they would be more...

Question on chain saw bar and chains

Agree with Buzz I am in Virginia. Had a Stihl MS 250 for awhile. It came with a .325 .063 chain too. Didn't make sense to me either, but as they say Stihl does strange things that make no sense to me.
