Stihl 261 vs. Husky 550 XP

I think that its almost apples to oranges to compare the 261 and 550. Seems that the autotune brings so much to the table that it puts it in a different class. Sure they're both 50cc saws but thats where the similarity ends. I for one prefer the the feel of a stihl over husky. I have a...

    John Deere/Stihl Dealers

We have a couple of those around here. They actually have a really good selection of saws and great prices on chains. I just got a 18" .325 chain for my 261 today for $17.00. They know what they are talking about and stock alot of skidder parts as well as the mower/tractor stuff. There are...

I love being friends with farmers

Lucky! All the farmers around here burn wood.

What's the best all around saw for work?

My "work" consists of 10-12 cord a year that I cut on my land. My new Masterminded ms261 is my go to work saw. Lightweight, powerful, easy to start. Cuts the crap outa 90% of my trees. An absolute pleasure to run.

    Northeastern state Blizzard

Yea, that might suck. I'm right on the canuckistan border, we're only going to get 3-5" today and 2-4" tonight. I was headed skiing I live 5 miles from Jay Peak) but wind has all upper lifts shut down. Guess I'll romp around on the 4wheeler to keep my trails packed down. Good luck to all of...

They over hype snowstorms these days. It just started snowin here, nothin special though. I'll probably go skiing instead of cutting wood.:help:

"wicked work saw" ported cylinder exchange program

I was just about to ask about buying one of those. I'd love a large in the orangish color. How do you want payment?

    What to keep....MS261(new) or MS361(old)

I shoulda explained that one more. I meant to say that a PORTED 361 would be close to filling the roll of a 70cc saw, at least as far as I understand it. So for less then the cost of buying a 70cc saw, he could keep his 361 get it ported. I'm just thinking out loud here and could be way off...

    What to keep....MS261(new) or MS361(old)

Not many details. Randy(Mastermind) did a woods port on my 261 and it now has alot more 'grunt'. My 361 is stock and in good shape, not old and tired. I haven't done any timed cuts with video but the 261 sure as heck feels at least as stong if not stronger then the 361 and is obviously...

    What to keep....MS261(new) or MS361(old)

I have both. I got Randy to port the 261 and never use the 361 now.

    Couple pics from today

I guess 14 years in Army gives me a little OCD, I like to keep all my things clean. The saws get plenty nasty but I enjoy having a few beers and cleaning them up after a day cutting. In all fairness the 261 was bought in october and the 440 is only a week old. I love my 350! But it is the...

    Chainsaw storage in/on a vehicle

That's a very common setup with the loggers around here. My saws almost never go in my truck, all my cutting is 4wheeler access only.

    Couple pics from today

Dropped this dead maple today. It was right next to one of my 4wheeler trails. It was a great tree to try out my new 440 on. LOVE that saw! Here is the 440 on the stump, it has a 20" bar, stump was 28". I know my hinge sucks, I don't often drop trees that much bigger then my bar. And...

How would you cut this tree?

Here it is, I still need to finish bucking it up. I've been going after some other "projects" like this one.
