    My tri-axle load

A load like that is running about $650 to $700 in my area if you can find one. Does anybody know how the new Emarald Ash Borer laws are going to affect the price of these types of firewood loads this coming year in Pennsylvania? Pa. has just restricted wood (logs and firewood) hauling from...

    My swedish candle~learned from here

I've noticed that everyone is making these candles out of pine or cedar. Will a hard wood log like maple work? Have plenty of hard wood but nothing soft like pine and would love to try one at the next campfire. Carl

Does Anyone Take Their Dog in the Bush?

Donthraen, right after that picture was taken we headed for the "DOGGY" car wash. He doesn't care for it to much but it does the job. The wife gets a LITTLE upset if I drag him through the house and into the shower when he does this trick. LOL

Does Anyone Take Their Dog in the Bush?

I take Rusty with me all the time. I don't think I would consider the area I go into the "BUSH" though. He just loves to roll in anything that is dead and stinks. You can tell in this picture that he has some black stinky gunk on him and this is after I tried to wipe him off.

    So how do you feel

Rope, where you born knowing how to run a saw??????? Didn't think so. So why do you think nobody else but a pro should be able to buy a saw. How can you become a pro without starting with your first saw and learning from there????? Hopefully new saw/tool/power-equipment owners will have...

Drink water out there! or wind up like me

Cutting Gatorade and those types of drinks with water is a very good idea because they all have a lot of sodium (salt) in them. I'm not picking on Gatorade they all are loaded with salt. In hot weather a lot of salt intake is really bad for you. Drink till you pee is the way to go. LOL

Methods for cutting the fire starters

Cnice 37, yes i do it for the convenience. With my work schedule my stove goes out quite a few times during the winter. It's easier and faster for me to use a firestarter made from a wax log than to spend a lot of time with kindling and building a fire from srcatch. Carl

Methods for cutting the fire starters

I usualy gather up the small chunks from splitting to use as kindling if I need to. Mostly I just buy one of those fireplace wax logs and cut it into 1 1/4" slices with a hacksaw and then quarter those slices with a paint scraper. These will work great for starting a fire from dead cold. It's a...

    Sledge Hammer & Wedges???

Harry K, my wedge isn't nearly as bad as the one pictured, it's just that all I have is a small bench grinder. I do have access to a torch at work, and was worried about changing the properties of the metal by heating it. I may have to see if I can square it up a little with a hacksaw first...

    Sledge Hammer & Wedges???

I don't want to hijack this thread, but what is the best way to get rid of the mushroom head on a wedge? Would using a torch change the steel enough that it could become brittle? My small grinder would take fore ever to grind any thing off of my wedge.

Bought my first brand new saw yesterday

Ms290 Jeff, I think your only mistake was coming to this site. I to had a MS290 and was happy as a pig in #$@%. Then I found this site and all I read about was BIGGER, BETTER,and FASTER. Sold the 290 and got a MS361. If it wasn't for this place I would still be cutting my firewood with the 290...

Scrap pickup with bonus (Poulan SXXV)

Tubes If all of this came from a bigger school that would have a good size heating system, it could be those tubes are from a steam producing boiler. They look a lot like the ones from the boilers in the refinery I work. The looks of the inside of the tube is why I say this. Carl

    Saw's Stolen

I'm sure it's a results of the poor economy and the drug problem facing this country that causes people to take what they want. Why they would rather rob someone instead of doing things a simple going door to door looking to mow grass, shovel snow or do what ever odd jobs it takes to EARN some...

    MS361 Stuck Screw

Success! Got a bigger screw driver and used Ironmans suggestion of the wrench on the shaft. I had to put the saw on a low stool and lean some weight on it. Came loose with a sharp "CRACK" that made me half afraid to look but it was good to go. Thanks Carl

    MS361 Stuck Screw

The scrench that came with the saw doesn't seem to fit the screw all that well so I went with the biggest one I had in my tool chest. Will go down town later for a bigger one. What would cause it to seize up like it did? If I get it loose I will put some never sieze on it.

    MS361 Stuck Screw

Thanks Brad, I'm using the biggest screw driver that I have and my hands sqeak from the pressure I'm putting on it as is. Will go and try to find a BIGGER one though. :dizzy: It looks like the nut part could be brass so I haven't wanted to realy crank to hard on it.
