    High Climbing Photos

Hello Mr. Sizzle, If you come to the bay often then by all means swing by. I've been telling my friend about these trees for awhile. The actual ones that we climbed there in the photos are up on the hill away from the Older more decayed Eucs (that were posted earlier up). These were...

More Eucs from Gold Hill Here's some photos of my friend Al and I climbing these Eucalyptus for recreation. Though I always bring a hand saw. It was good throwball practice. All of Marin is worked with landslides. Trees are undermined left and right. Lots of Rain. D.

    Post Pictures of Big Trees!!!!!!!

Does this look better? I am really learning my camera and corresponding programs still. The wind was insane. The city has been phasing out the stand with W.U.I money and the local Marin Conservation Corp. don't even know if these are big in comparison to say Australia.. There is...

    Post Pictures of Big Trees!!!!!!!

Here's some photos of our Christmas walk up Gold Hill. I see some big swings. Goliath Eucalyptus. The wind was blowing and the sticks were creaking with the sways. I think I'll climb them with a friend rather than alone. D.

Sugar or Salt water for the tree

The Christmas Tree is already dead. I'll take your word though on sugar. Its a carbohydrate and that's more of what a tree uses than salt. Thanks Squirrel for the input. My girlfriend and I wanted to know for Christmas' sake. D.

    Topping ordinances?

Lot's and Lot's of cities and counties here in Kalifornia have no topping and the penalty is usually a fine of some amount. http://danr.ucop.edu/ihrmp/county/ This goes through plenty of ordinances. Mitigation is a biggie also. D

Does this tree look safe or needs "reduction"?

At what size, age, or level of maturity must the tree be so as not to release latent buds into "turbo growth"? When will a tree realize that it must submit to my training and not grow anymore? Death? D

Does this tree look safe or needs "reduction"?

topping is a lollipop. directional pruning or reduction so as to train the tree to avoid an immovable object (house, hotwire). Viewprune to confine the tree to the acceptable limits of the homeowner. Use BMP's to lower tree stress. D

Does this tree look safe or needs "reduction"?

Thank you all for discussing this and displaying a slice of experience and theory. The tree looks good and I feel will not pose a problem for maybe 5-20 years. For that, next year a lite thin with deadwood removal is prescribed. I only posed this post as to spark discussion. I agree with...

Does this tree look safe or needs "reduction"?

In Fact protecting the 'ViewScapes" is written into the city ordinances. Your uphill neighbor has the right to top any tree in your yard (downhill) that interferes with their view of the Bay or the prison. I suggest to plant lots of Dogwoods and Jap Maples. Low stature equals longer future...

Does this tree look safe or needs "reduction"?

To answer a few. The tree looks really good. No failures or ripped branches. The top looks vibrant with visible buds. Though the tree is surrounded by turf no apparent competition. Very little deadwood maybe 15-20%. The reason I posted the pics was exactly "do you do preemptive arbor...

Does this tree look safe or needs "reduction"?

the homeowner is alittle intimidated by the size. You are correct in the absence of hollows or any irregularities for that matter. I didn't talk to the homeowner about codominate stems or included bark for that matter. I only took some photos for my own edification and to hear y'alls opinion...

Does this tree look safe or needs "reduction"?

Here's a maple I saw in a homeowners yard. Looks prone to failure but I don't know. I'd hate to jack it's shape. Tons of targets around. the homeowner says the tree keeps the golf balls out of her windows from the course next door. D

    CA State License Board

Has anyone here ever noticed that the study materials nor the Contractor test (C-61) itself even mention the word tree? I'm studying for my California Contractors test and can't believe how much I need to know about scaffolding and trenches inorder to start a legitimate tree service. Who wants...

Some Eucs Here's a Euc I helped on Friday. Brushed out 2/3 of it in a day. The photo is from a patio looking out at the Eucs. The trees may have only been 120'ish. Fat none the less. D
