Help! ...Stihl 290 oiler not working

the chain was making its dry sound so I shut 'er down today. Luckily I could finish up with another saw. Checked the oiler slot in the powerhead and the hole in the bar, both clear. The sprocket at the tip is free, and the chain guide groove in the bar is clear, it's just not pumping oil! Can it...

Can someone recommend a good draw knife?

if you're still searching for ideas and info, I make my own draw knives for peeling logs to build log furniture. I make them from truck leaf springs. I've tried lighter weight store bought ones but mine are heavier and pull through bumps and staubs easier. I take a hatchet and knock off all the...

Anyone hiring in the Tahoe area?

I live just south of Carson city, Nevada and am looking for work. I haven't done much logging but did a thinning project for the Forest Service felling, limbing, bucking and removal of several hundred trees. I have run a few pieces of equipment, have common sense, good motor skills, work on my...

    Pinon Pine

yes, I cut and sell Pinion. I call it "the hardwood of the pines" The stuff is great! Easy to light, puts off great BTU's, leaves little ash and smells good too. Some rounds can be tough to split though. I toss them off to the side and when there's enough of them I rip 'em in half with the saw...

    winch setup ideas

I will be building a wood truck and am gathering ideas on different winch setups. Sure, to get the truck out if stuck but also to drag logs to the truck. I have seen pictures of old trucks with a tall "A" frame mounted on the back that seemed to be taller than the cab and wonder if they were...

    whats eating my wood?

sometimes I build log furniture and know that if the bark is off the wood they will die (but who would want to do that to firewood) you can cover the wood with black plastic during warm sunny days for about a month, it will kill them. Here in the west its not a big concern that I know of...

    Wood Hauler Pics

I delivered wood to a guy that had a duece and a half and he said if you searched around you could pick one up that was in decent shape for some where in the neighborhood of $5000-$7000. He also said they run on diesel and get 15 miles per gallon loaded or empty. I would love to have a dump...

Man Nearly Saws His Face During Newscast cutting off blowdown tree

maybe it was a staged scenario gone awry. ...what about the near miss with his left hand? Looked like a bad position to be in, leaning way forward off balance while cutting. But I'm sure alot of us have been in an off balanced position cutting thinking we will get away with it. I know I have.
