    Husky 262XP fuel leaking

Use larger o-ring I had this same problem. I replaced the vent tube and got a slightly larger O-ring for the fuel cap. Works great now. The factory O-ring is just too small to get a good seal in my experience.

    Decompression valve retrofit on 262XP

Has anyone ever added a decompression value on a saw that didn't originally come with one? I'm wondering if I can add one to my 262XP. The saw has killer snap-back, and now that I've experienced the decompression value on my 385, I'm sold on them. Anyone ever tried this?

If you had a stock 385XP

Start it up, make sure it's not tuned too lean, and start using it.

    NEW E-teck 346XP

Mine says EPA Phase 1 on the sticker, and it doesn't say E-Tech anywhere. It doesn't have a silver muffler, which I think goes hand in hand with a catalitic converter muffler. What do your stickers say?

    Where are different Husky's built

How can you tell where different Husky models are built? Is there a plant code in the serial number? Any other indicators.

    Husky carb. limiters

Does anyone have a picture or two? The limiters on my 346XP are easy to get to and easy to modify. But my 385XP is a different setup with a shell/cover over the screws and screw caps. I played with pulling it off, but it was not yielding and I was afraid of breaking it. Since them I returned...

Think I Want to Try a Husky

I'd stick with the XP models as well, specifically the 357XP.

    Max RPM - who cares?

I've seen comments comparing saws based on their max RPMs, and I've also seen objections to rev-limiting ignition systems. I don't get it. Other that as a tuning tool, I don't understand why it matters if one saw can do 11,000 RPM, where another can so 13,000 RPM. From the few checks I've...

Stihl MS660 VS Husky 395xp What one is better

Humm, looks like their out-of-the-box performance is the same to me. Both are 5.2kW

    Down-side of modified saws

I get the emissions argument, but didn't the EPA just start regulating saws in the last 10 years or so? Before that wouldn't all factory saws have had these less restrictive flow designs? EPA regulates noise level? I didn't know that.

    Down-side of modified saws

What's the down-side to a modified saw? If modifications are so great, why don't saws engineered by the manufacturers ship that way? They aren't dummies, in fact I'll bet they know more about extracting engine performance than all of our saw builders put together. I guess the obvious...

    Hypothetical question...just for fun

I'd get my 346XP and 385XP back, and ask for a 372XP to replace my 262.

    Why wasn't I told?

I'd try cleaning up as best I could. Scrape off the chunks as much as possible, then use emory cloth.

    Why wasn't I told?

It looks like the crank shaft end in the center, with needle bearings around one side, then the drum hub, but the crank shaft is all off center. Is the crank off center, or the drum? I don't see room around the edges for the drum to be off center. If the crank is off center, well, that's...

    3120XP or MS880?

Seen any Martians lately? Sorry, I coudn't resist. I actually know the place quite well. My father lived a stone's throw away for many years.

    More 372's entering the pipeline

It was a "Dallas" moment. Last year never happened.

Bow for Stihl - chain length?

What's the advantage of a bow bar? What does it do that a narrow bar can't?

    Husqvarna 359

Take the time to read the manual, including all the safety stuff. People who have been cutting for a long time (most of the people on this site) know as second nature the situations that can get you into trouble, if not get you killed. People are not born knowing it. Take the time to learn...

    Husky 142 or 338XPT

I guess I don't see it. I looked up the DLG test reports and their measured weights, and they are all within 2%-3% of the manufacturer's specs with one exception. Some are slightly more, some are less. Both Stihl and Husky models are understated as well as overstated, so I don't buy that...

    Stihl Saw Comparison $/lb $/HP HP/lb

I'm actually quite interested, but can't find any of these reports. Can you provide links? Are any of them in english (I can handle french too, but I suspect that won't help) Thanks
