    Mastermind Meets The MS661 C-M

They don't do it on purpose, but it's the nature of prototyping and tooling. You just can't simulate mass production in small runs. I guess they could build them all on the Friday before Octoberfest?

    576XP/AT

If you're really concerned with the weight and the bulk then wait. If not get the 576xp at. It runs so stinkin smooth and pulls hard. The western clutch cover is really open as noted and would take quite a trick to plug. FYI The stock muffler has a pressed in .5"exit under a brazed deflector and...

    Saw Cleaning / Beautification Questions

Probably better to spin the clutch rim (don't roll the engine over) by hand to force oil out. At least that works for me.

    Arm Protection

I think the left hand injuries can come from the hand slipping off or the negligence of intentionally removing it to move a branch or some such. Also when moving/walking with the saw idling and the chain brake not set (or set), trip and let go with the forward hand to catch/brace yourself...

576 is nice. Your hands would adore you as it has incredibly low vibration.

    Auxilliary oiler flow rate/duration

As an aside, I'm still thinking of a pressurized system. It would use a tight fitting 5-10lb weight to act as a counter-weight to the power-head and supply an even down pressure throughout the oiling process.

    Auxilliary oiler flow rate/duration

Just tested my on-the-fly aux oiler for use with 28" bar on 30" Granberg (20" actual cut without drilling the bar). I used a 1/4"id snowmachine oil injector shut-off valve below a stainless 800ml water bottle. It is easy to fill and has a pull up spout for a breather that wont get crap in it. I...

karma's going to be a beeatch but hey, they made a buck pissing off a thousand people I wouldn't want to have to screw over a thousand people just for a lousy buck. Talk about a cheap whore!

What are the best chain saw chaps?

A hand can slip for one thing. A user can stumble (even when your not supposed to be moving around whilst sawing). Stuff happens and evidently it happens a lot to peoples left hands...

    Stihl changing tactics in Aus?

Depends on if you count the city or the city area. I have always been in awe of the fact that Aus is roughly the size of the states but with a drastic reduction in population. Care for anymore folks? I can think of a couple hundred million we could lose an be happy in the bargain... Oh and I'll...

    Idle Tuning Chain Stop?

So it's simply a matter of easy starting, good idling, and lack of chain rotation?

    Idle Tuning Chain Stop?

Was tuning the other day and wondered how many people tune their saws to idle with the chain completely dead stopped 100% of the time and how many have a little slow creep at idle? On my 660 there is quite a bit of adjustment between the two, so I wondered about any performance advantage of one...

What are the best chain saw chaps?

Always bears repeating: While we're talking chaps, let's not forget good boots (by far the biggest risk)! And a left hand glove (for righties) isn't a horrible idea either (greater risk than your legs). I wish they would make a better glove though. I haven't used chaps or boots until this...

    M-tronic/Autotune bologna??

Yeah, 15 years old as opposed to the '84 Bronco and '75 F-250 and... Actually growing up we had an '86 Bronco (first year with FI) and it sucked literally (had to get a new engine cause it sucked water with the low intake it has). Also compare the wiring harness from a carb model with a newer...

    M-tronic/Autotune bologna??

I just replaced all 8 of my coil-on-plug units and spark plugs on my '97 5.8l Tritan V8 and the DPFE sensor as well. Give me the straight six with all the emissions crap tore off and a carter carb on it every day over the new fuel injected stuff. The performance isn't enough different for me to...
