Old thread I know but I thought I would chime in. DHT does have very good customer service. They stood behind my 27 ton even after it was out of warranty. That said, my splitter lost the pump around 27 hours, which they replaced, and then lost the cylinder some time after that. DHT made good...

I have the 27 ton. Are you sure you don't have the 9 hp motor. Going from memory but I think the larger splitters have a bigger engine.

Is there a way to approximate the weight of any given log in length? Obviously some wood is heavier than others, but in general, if my loader lifts say a 1000lbs, how long of a log can I attempt to lift? Just looking for general guidelines. Thanks, George

I've cleaned the hole in the bar. Is it ok to make it a bit larger? Don't want to ruin the bar.

It happened cutting a big old maple. Like Stevesr says if i repeatedly blip the throttle before and after the cut it is fine. Doesn't happen every time. Usually everything is fine.

So. Yes the oiler is turned up to the max. I think the R model comes with the larger oiler. It's happened twice that the chain will sieze on the bar because it was so dry. If I blip the throttle repeated before a long cut, you can see the oil sling, and all is well. Maybe I will try different...
