Homelite 903, tell me about it

Has a bright blue spark, missing some paint but a very solid body. You can almost hear a carburetor in the background I bet. Like most of the XL-700 and 800 series, the 903 utilized the same HS26 carb.

Homelite 903, tell me about it

So now we have electronic ignition and you would have to remove the flywheel and service the points to ever find out. Both the 903 and 923 offer the comp release and the linkage from the 903 mated up perfectly to the 923 valve. You would have to take the muffler off and notice the oval exhaust...

Homelite 903, tell me about it

The 550 has a significant speed advantage. Heck, a 410 properly tuned will enter the conversation. But back to the XL-903. I bought one on Fleabay and am having my way with it. This thing started off gooey. The motor on the left is the original with compression release. Note the...

    Omega ignition module part number?

Please note that the Stihl 031 is positive ground. Yes. Hook the chip up backwards if you ever want to see if it works. Not kidding, it's about the only saw in the world like this.

Homelite 903, tell me about it

They ALL interchange. For real. You will get a variance in the way they deliver oil. All of three methods i believe. I intend to build an SXL-925 with a compression release. Or maybe I'll get an XL-923 and go crazy. By far the most interesting difference in the XL-90X series is the use of a...

    Homelite Super 1050 questions.

Pretty sure the E stood for "Extreme cold weather" The reversed threaded screw at the manifold allowed for such adjustments in sub-zero temps. That hose that comes from the cylinder comes up through the handle assy and pre-heats the fuel mixture for you.

Homelite C-series Planetary Gear Drive Wanted

I want to see what it does. I can make a gasket, I'm not worried about squish. You realize after I put the C-5 on the C-9 I have this jug set so, I figure I'll just go downsize the whole fleet. I'll increase torque and save gas.

Homelite C-series Planetary Gear Drive Wanted

What gasket seal and where do you get it? That C-91 jug set is going on this 1020 XP set. That 1020 jug set's going on this C-91 :hmm3grin2orange:

Homelite C-series Planetary Gear Drive Wanted

The piston pin orientation combined with the domed C-91 piston have it at least an 1/8 of an inch higher than the XL-925 equivilent. Also the XL-925 piston will travel about a 1/16 inch lower into the unit (BDC) so the removed area of material at the base of the newer piston will or will not...

    Homie SuperWiz-77

The Super Wiz and the Super Wiz-77 both utilize 2 gear reduction, however the Super-77 is described as a transmission? Maybe I'm reading too much into it.

    Homie SuperWiz-77

Anybody got an IPL for one of these? I have one for the 55, 66 and 80 but the 77 must be some odd bird? Thanks.

    C5 has lost it's grunt

I think you did the right thing. Now we get to talk about the C-5! Cool saw. The C series in general were all about a longer piston stroke. But for the C-5 and C-51, Homelite maintained the 1.5 " stroke on those models, so I'm glad you have her on 3/8 chain. For any Homelite C-series a...

Carb problems even after rebuild (Homelite 330)

It's still a whole lot better than; "My 330 was talking to your 330 and your 330 said..." That's the kind of stuff that drives me out of the house to work smiling all the way. Overtime? No problem, can I set up a cot?

Carb problems even after rebuild (Homelite 330)

I admire you guys that get in there and tweek at the machining level like that. 046, great pic! As always, good worth-while content. Can we start a tool-envy group around here for people like me? Or would we need several partitioned web sites? Pill-poll Do you think he plugs in the pulse...

Carb problems even after rebuild (Homelite 330)

Screw carburetors. Introduce the fuel right at the plug, so screw manifolds, rubber boots, and most of all... bellows. Let the darn counterweight thwap (yinzer for flick) some other medieval pump form, creating enough pressure to activate the injector. Then we can magnetically ionize the top of...
