    My newly finished splitter

Here’s a short video of my brother running it right after we finished it

    My newly finished splitter

I’m just splitting wood for my outdoor furnace. So far it doesn’t fall on the ground and it seems to work well and I’ve split some large stuff. Also my wedge isn’t near that wide.

    My newly finished splitter

I got some helpful information for my splitter build so I thought I’d share some pictures of how it ended up. It’s powered by an electric start Honda GX390 with a 22gpm pump. The cylinder is a 5x30 with a 3.5” ram. The cycle time is 12.5 -13.5 seconds depending on oil temperature.

    Auto cycle valve

That’s basically what I’m doing. It’s a two spool valve with power beyond and my auto cycle will be second in the circuit. It’s not how I really wanted to do it but it’ll work because that’s all I can find.

    Auto cycle valve

Thanks for the information guys. Surplus center was supposed to have them here by the middle of December. Now they’re saying April! I finally found one without power beyond. It’s not what I wanted but I think I can make it work it just won’t be the primary valve like I wanted but I think it’ll...

    Auto cycle valve

Does anyone have an auto cycle valve with power beyond they’re willing to sell. I can’t find one in stock or available before April anywhere. If you have one you’re willing to sell let me know.

H beam question on a splitter build

Well this beam is 9x8 with 1” top and bottom flange with 5/8” web and I’m gonna reinforce it with two 3/8” plates so hopefully it doesn’t twist much

H beam question on a splitter build

I don’t know for sure. For myself that’s a lot of welds to make sure are oil proof. I’m not willing to try it.

H beam question on a splitter build

I think I’m going to reinforce it for good measure. I’m going to use a 30 gallon tank so I don’t think heat should be a problem.

H beam question on a splitter build

I’m thinking on building a splitter with an adjustable 4 way wedge. 5” cylinder with a 30” stroke hopefully around 30 tons. I have an 8”x9” H beam with a 15/16” x8” top and bottom flange and 5/8”x 9” center web. Close as I can tell about 70 pounds a foot. I’m wanting about a 16” tall upright...

    highly recommended dump bed trailers?

I have a Lamar trailer with scissor hoist and really like it. Haven’t had it long enough to know how the powder coat will hold up. I ended up with a Lamar because of the I Beam frame and thicker floor than any others I looked into. I hauled some gravel with it and ended up with a little over...

    Axe handle source

You could try bowman handle. I’ve had pretty good luck with them.

Dump trailer for hauling firewood need opinions

Appreciate the info guys. The reason I keep coming back to Lamar is they have the thickest floor of any I’ve found 7 ga which is about 3/16. The Sur Trac is nice and I like the telescopic cylinder but not interested in peeling paint and there frame isn’t as heavy.

Dump trailer for hauling firewood need opinions

I’m looking into buying a dump trailer to haul firewood, my utility tractor, and mulch among other things. I’ve pretty much narrowed it down to either a Lamar or Sure Trac 7x14. I like the telescopic hoist on the Sur Trac but the Lamar is built heavier. Prices are within a few hundred dollars...

    Echo 341T problems

I wish that was the case believe it or not I already checked to make sure he didn't do that. It's not that way now at least maybe he did that at one time though.

    Echo 341T problems

Okay I bought a 341T off a guy on craigslist he said he only had it 11 months and he couldn't get it to idle right and he wanted to get a stihl. He got it started and ran it a little so I decided I'd risk it and brought it home. I messed with it some and then took the muffler and spark plug out...

    461 Won't Shut Off

Thanks for all the advice guys. I blew it out with an air blower and now it seems to be working. It was pretty dusty I think it must have been jammed with sawdust. As far as the warranty I doubt it's much good any more. I cleaned out the muffler and removed the limiter caps.

    461 Won't Shut Off

That's just it I don't but sometimes letting it return to an idle it doesn't always shut off. It's strange I used it a week ago and it was fine now this morning it's acting up like this.

    461 Won't Shut Off

I have 461 that all the sudden quit shutting off right. If you have it running full throttle it won't shut off unless you shut the switch on and off a couple of times. If you let it return completely to an idle it usually shuts off then but not always. Anybody got any ideas? Thanks
