I would use JB Weld and ensure that the proper stainless steel plate was installed. Other choices are have it welded up or replace that crankcase half with a good one.
Kinda what I figured. Too expensive to keep a little used and probably hard to make work mold operational. Further, I bet that the mold was so big that it required a huge press. Why bother shipping????
I have seen low top covers with Brazil molding marks being sold as new high tops from a dealer. I had a time getting my money refunded. I have no idea why the high tops can not be molded in Brazil and imported to the USA.
