    Finding busted saws

If you can locate any scrap metal yards within reasonable driving distance, try that. Perhaps talk to the garbage truck folks. A couple of things that helps me at the scrap yard is I fix their demolition saws when needed and I also pitch in cash to the crews pizza fund now and then. These...

    How to identify Stihl 045

Nice work on the saw, and, nice work sharing your story of your grand-dad. I own some of these saws too and enjoyed fixing them and using them. IRT your steel handle, my local saw shop told me that they were an aftermarket handle that was available at the time those saws were new. I have one of...

Want to Trade Big Husqvarna saws for Alpina and/or McCulloch saws

That's a big BUMMER. Well, good to know what to expect. I'll be keeping a lookout as I usually do. If I find other Alpina's I may contact you down the road to let you know if you're interested. I'm up the coast from you in the Olympic Peninsula but I sometimes travel as far south as Coos Bay.

    Weird bar problem

I agree. I've seen the top of the bar groove feel tight but down at the bottom of the groove is way too wide and allows the chain to move side-to-side. Time for a new bar.

    Alpina and Castor Chainsaws

I tried their website. It appears that potential buyers here in the US of A may not be able to buy parts. Has anyone here in the "States" been successful in any purchases? I could use some help here in this quest.

Want to Trade Big Husqvarna saws for Alpina and/or McCulloch saws

Thanks Jacob J. I have to correct my first description. Now that I'm back home from work, I looked at the sticker shadow and it says "Forest" on the upper part of the clutch cover, not TIMBER. Age make memory work harder. BTW, have you any sources for parts? My first interest is in replacing...

Any one cut fire wood with a "vintage" saw

I like this style saw too. I've got an 045 Super that I use regularly. Also did some milling with it a while back. Love the torque in them.

http://lagros.com/pdf/Alpina_P120S.pdf http://lagros.com/pdf/Alpina_90.pdf Here's what I found for the Alpina 90 and 120 IPL's. It's all in Italian and English along with many other saws and brands. I'm going to print them this weekend when I get of work and see where I can go from here.

    Alpina and Castor Chainsaws

Hello Lee, I was just given a saw like yours. It looks identical. I can't find markings to confirm it. Do you have any info such as an IPL available? I can't send a pic of the saw as I'm now out of town at work. Any info would be helpful. Thanks. Will

Want to Trade Big Husqvarna saws for Alpina and/or McCulloch saws

What model Alpina is this? I'm asking because I was just given a saw very similar to this but with an orange clutch cover. No markings on the exterior besides the obvious ALPINA but I can see the faint outline of a missing decal that said "TIMBER" on this side.
