Walbro SDC Carb. Using the thick or thin pump side gasket

I'm sure some new users have this question. Walbro SDC pump side gasket. Choosing the thick one or the thin one in the kit. I had always assumed the thicker gasket on the pump side was reserved for the carbs not calling for the check valve diaphragm. That seems to be generally true. I...

I have Walbro carb spec's and part PN's for most of the carbs. Need help to share them

I miss the availability of carb specs on the Walbro site now that they've deleted them as I'm sure a bunch of you do as well. I have spec's and part pn's by specific carb model and version but need some help from someone that can combine about 28 pdf's together. Here's a sample of one of the...

    Tillotson HS-56A carb Questions

I have an HS 56A carb on a 900 series Homelite saw. The issue I'm having is flooding on the high side. The saw starts and idles OK as far as it will with fuel running in from the high side. The saw runs with the high side needle closed. That would indicate to me that the metering needle wasn't...

    Meteor piston circlip clock position

I am about to install a meteor piston in an MS 260 and was wondering what the clock position of the circlip end gap should be. There is a semi-circular cutout at about 8 o'clock in the wrist pin hole. Where should I position that circlip gap or does it matter? Thanks for any suggestions.

    Pioneer1771 project saw carb ID

I started to fiddle around with my 1771 and pulled the carb. It looks like it has a Walbro logo on the bottom cover. Can any of you ID this carb as something other than a Pioneer?

Unusual CAD find today for Southern Ontario

I picked a couple of saws today plus a Stihl top handle power head with more parts missing than present plus a spare used bar (haven't looked to see what it is) a couple of safety chains and a new Stihl 16" Power Match bar. One saw is an old 041 that at least needs a new starter cord. Not...

A question for all you guys that sharpen chisel chains

Up until now I have only used semi-chisel chains. When sharpening those, the file stays at right angles to the bar. I just got a new bar and chisel chain for my Echo 6700. I am curious as to why you hold the file at a 10 degree slope when sharpening chisel chains. Thanks

A liitle advice on a Pioneer Farmsaw please

I was tuning my new to me Farmsaw and a couple of issues cropped up in the two worst areas, the recoil starter and Ignition module for which parts are scarce I understand. I shut the saw off which was working well and it would not restart. Also the starter cord would not retract properly. I...

Well....everyone has an opinion but opinions are never better than facts. BUT,

I decided to muffler mod my 026 today and take before and after videos in a piece of wet red oak. Well something happened to the before video (not the one you want to mess up) but I do feel that the saw does cut a little faster. Thanks to all who discovered and shared the muffler mod. Does the...

Made a bucking spike for my Pioneer Farmsaw

I didn't look really hard but there didn't seem to be any spikes out there for a Farmsaw so I made one. It was kind of difficult to figure what to make as there doesn't seem to be any consistency to the design of these unless I am missing something. I took an old piece of angle iron and cobbled...

I probably Paid too much for this Pioneer Farmsaw 65cc but I couldn't resist it

I paid $110 for this saw at a garage sale. I don't even know if it runs yet but the pics show the way I got it. It came with the owner's manual, IPL, brochure, scrench, a new file, and a new Pioneer chain (1983). Looks like he paid around $479 less 10% as written in the dealers brochure. The...

Picked up an Echo CS-6700 today

I have been looking for a larger saw that would handle larger firewood pieces than the 026 with a 16" bar. I needed something in a lower price range and that kind of ruled out a 266, 272, 044 etc. I got an Echo CS-6700 in nice shape with a 20" bar and three Stihl Oilomatic 3 3/8 chisel...

I'm not too good at tree ID. Anyone care to guess what type of wood this is?

I live in southern Ontario and have a chance to pick up some free firewood. Do any of you have any idea what type of wood this is? I'm guessing oak or maple but not sure. Thanks Tim

    Vacuum/pressure tester for the Canucks

Since we can't seem to find a cheap vacuum brake bleeder in Canada for les than $50, I cobbled something different if you have the equipment. I made a valve/gauge/ from a tee fitting, some tubing a vacuum gage ($8.00 at Princess Auto), a pressure gage (had one) and a shut off valve. I carved...

026 spitting gas out of carb

My Stihl 026 is spitting gas out of the carb. The carb is a Walbro WT 194. I can just barely get it fired by holding the throttle open. Needless to say it's running a little rich. Both needles set to 1 turn out. Any idea what's going on? Any help would be appreciated. Tim

026 carburetor box cover lock driving me nuts. Dumb issue buy I want it right.

I can't get the carb cover twist lock to work properly on my early 026. It has the round lock knob with spring and detent. I have put a new detent in and my guess is that the spacing between the air filter nut flanges and the carb box cover is not correct. Is there supposed to be a gasket...
