today's oil are far better than they were back in the 70's. you will be fine with 50,40, 32 to 1.

so the part number for the crank is same for both models. The part numbers for the pistons and cylinders are different. Still may work.

In theory I believe it should work, but I don't know for sure, I will look at some part numbers and ipls on stihls b-net and give you a better idea this afternoon.

I have seen worse running. Is that the intake port? seems like someone was not to fond of cleaning the air filter.

I thought it was a snake oil before I tried it, now we use it at the shop all the time. At the very least it stabilizes fuel and removes water but it seems to do quite a bit more than that.

The Canadian price I saw from a discrete email from my stihl rep was 149.95. Still high after the cost of the saw. Saws after jan 1 already have the new parts installed.

I agree with 046 get a used big bore saw (or two) new model saws usually have a few issues but not always.

I spray a little carb cleaner on a rag as well. Quick wipe or two and follow up with car wax.

Usually a very durable saw. Are you having issues or just wondering. Very high rpm is number one sign of an air leak.
