Brand new MS661c-m bar nuts loosen and throw chain

Any signs that the bar nut studs are pulling out of the body of the saw? Had that happen on an old saw that I foolishly loaned to my gorilla of a brother. He tightened up the bar nuts so much the studs started to pull out. Just enough to loosen the studs grip in the body of the saw. That was a...

Anyone use a Singing Rock Sit Work III Harness?

My local shop had some Buckingham Buckcats in that I looked at. Amazing how stiff the webbing is on my 13 year old Singing Rock saddle is in comparison, even though it still looks good. I'm sure if I had a new one to compare it to that I would see it is faded as well. I was reading how the ozone...

Anyone use a Singing Rock Sit Work III Harness?

If appreciate any recommendations. I was reading about how nylon loses elesticity after a few years. I'm looking to hopefully spend under $200. Maybe another singing rock harness? I'm only a part time climber. Maybe 5-25 trees a year helping friends and friends of friends. I pay for my gear...

Anyone use a Singing Rock Sit Work III Harness?

Wow, I went and got my harness out and sat down with it. Manufactured in 6/2004! The nylon is looking a little faded in a few spots. Couple small frayed spots around the buckles. Still really solid and looks great though. Jeez tho, 13 years old. They say 7 years max on nylon. Time to go...

Anyone use a Singing Rock Sit Work III Harness?

I've been using a singing rock harness like that for 7 or 8 years, no problems. Probably 300-400 hrs in it. No signs of wear. I'm sure the expensive stuff is better in many ways, but it gets the job done and it's light.

    Re-doing some parts saws

If you can't figure out how to fix them yourself, it's probably better to look for something in better shape. Think about what a newer saw would cost. Look at a new 455 rancher or a 271 farmboss. Look at Craigslist. A couple, maybe three hundred is what they're worth in really excellent...

You sure you didn't just cut a lot more wood than he did in that 4 hours? You could run an 18" bar if you feel you need to. Best way to tell if you need a piston kit would be to do a compression test. Your dealer could do it pretty easily I would think. The 024 is probably worth getting fixed...

    Novice Climbers Thread

About 3 years ago I got really sick of scrounging free wood by the roadways, 'wood-fairy' style. So I hung up a flyer in the local supermarket for "Tree Service". I've been reading everything I can about knots and climbing and technique since. I borrowed some spikes and a harness and tore up...
