Removing a branch from a liquid amber/sweet gum - stability issues?

I hate those trees. Roots get into everything, they shed branches with just about any breeze, drop those spiked seed pods everywhere. I’d remove it.

Anyone with a Harbor Freight Chain sharpener try and do a square grind?

Yup. Complete crap. The one Amazon sells for $85 isn’t bad, however, Vevor I got one to play with next to my Ore 520. Out of the box it was a bit unstable but some tweaking fixed most of the slop. It is a dedicated raker grinder now. The plastic, rear adjustment knob broke in the first hr, lol...

The HF grinder has way too much play to bother with trying sq grinding, imo.

    Stihl ms261 muffler mod??

Interesting. Many years ago I played with opening my already dual port muffler on my 066 RE. I got improvements up to a point and then lost power. That’s where my 80% has come from. My guess is that there is really no set percentage for all saws.

    Stihl ms261 muffler mod??

I’ve done a half doz of them. Big gains? Nope, but definitely better than stock. I usually shoot for 80% of the exhaust port itself for “opening up” a muffler. Either expand the stock hole or add a dual port. Go too far and you’ll lose torque.

Stihl MS200 - cause and effect - what caused this?

Sure looks like air leak to me. I have a similar looking 192 and a Husky 340 in the shop. The 192 ran and had signs of obvious air leak.

What did you have to do to make that new style handle fit the 266? And, does that standard flag work with it? Sure looks nice.

That’s what I have, carb wise. Oe, 228 I haven’t checked the rpm specs for this saw yet but assume it won’t be running at 13k :p I’ll also run this saw with 40:1 at a minimum and 32 isn’t out of the question.

Does anyone know if the older 288s had some sort of limiter or governor? Just got a project saw running…idles great but sounds strange at wot. I don’t have any limited saws to compare. Sound is similar to an engine bouncing off the rev limiter, to me.
