    whadja do today?

Nice maple crane job for a friend today in the 44° drizzle over a busy 4 lane rd in town. Piece of cake. Tight set down area though

    Asphlund truck Spring pintle hitch

I would guess bolt-on hitches are rated for more weight than removable inserts. Hitch pin being the weak link. So it's probably not too easy to change out. Do they even make bolt-on ball couplers?

    Asphlund truck Spring pintle hitch

Just the straight pintle hitch models. I guess you could flip the truck or chipper and the other might stay upright or better for rough terrain to prevent binding

    Asphlund truck Spring pintle hitch

They work fine but sometimes rotate to the sides when you're trying to get them hooked up. Just when you think you're good the hitch is sideways and you have to start again. Best thing is just to make sure the trailer is jacked up to the empty height for the rehook when you unhook it

    Utility bucket

My 2000 GMC 7500 Forestry gas engine weighed 20k. I'm guessing but a rear mount without boxes goes between 15k and 20k depending on chassis engine and brand. Empty cab chassis ford f700 gasser weighed about 12.5k w/ 16' of frame rail

    manitoba maple (box elder)

Makes great chipper food. We cut up to 20" diameter into 18" lengths and roll them into the chipper and fill the chip box fast

Want to Sell 2000 GMC chip truck

$2500 takes it as is. Taking up touch space. We can probably work out delivery also

    manitoba maple (box elder)

Dries pretty fast but rots very fast also. Most people here don't include it in marketable saleable wood. BTU's are below all other maple if I recall correctly

    Utility bucket

I just converted my forestry combo over to a rearmount flatbed. Only a little shorter chassis but sight lines are much better, gets through tighter areas and is 5-6k lbs lighter, 454 gas @ 3mpg to diesel @12 mpg

    Utility bucket

A 60' double over center rear mount for example will reach 50' away at 10' above ground level, then an arch up to 60' directly above the turret. Whereas a non over center 70' will reach 70' up directly over turret but (these #'s are estimated) only say 35' away at 45' high with a reducing arch...

I wish their were no chiggars

I enjoy Michigan just for that reason. No chiggers, only 1 poisonous snake - that you never see anyway - no copperhead or moccasins. None of those mosquitoes with the white spots that can bite through jeans. I moved up from N.C. 14 years ago and don't miss much except the year round work

Want to Sell 2000 GMC chip truck

I can't edit the first thread for some reason, but I removed the bucket and toolboxes off, the 11' dump bed is still on there. Still needs a trans but around $500 for used and $500 labor. Has room behind the cab for a mini skid equipment rack - $4500. I can build the rack for extra. Also have...

    Stolen coos bay Oregon

Mark all the saws under the air filters and chain covers, as well as keep all serial #'s and photos as you did. Bigger dealers will keep a record of the saws you've bought for warranty records, couldn't hurt to ask

    Looking at a new trailer

I found my 20k on craigslist for $5600, they're on there occasionally in heavy equipment section. Needed 2 pieces of deck but easy fix

    Looking at a new trailer

My triple would take 4 of 6 good tires and make them bald with steel wire showing every year. I've got 2 years on my dual and no noticeable difference. That being said I had a 20' 14k built by Rice trailer that ruined fronts every year, all city driving though. The weigh pivots on 1 axle and the...

    Harbor freight band saw mill?

I bought the entry level Hudson HFE21 from Brown City Sales in Ohio and I'm happy with the quality and followup. Seems like it was around $2800 but it's an American built product with American parts and American customer service when if ever needed. Only problem is I wish it was bigger...
