    Dinky 182 poulan pro

I picked up a little poulan pro 182 at a yard sale a while back and with some new gas line and gutting the muffler, it runs fine. My question is, what is the displacement of the engine? I tried the search feature and didn't have a lot of luck. Not that it matters a whole bunch, but mostly to...

    MS 290 update

Not yet, although it has crossed my mind. Figured it would void the warranty and haven't sprung for another muffler to open up. Mostly been busy using the dogged thing and that says something for the saw. It runs, it cuts, and gets the job done, no matter how much I ##### about it. I'd probably...

    MS 290 update

Beats me on the flippy caps! Best part on the whole saw as far as I'm concerned. I guess one of my largest concerns with the ms 290 is that it doesn't have a good balance, for lack of something better to call it. Cuts awright, buttt!!!

Compression - How low is too low?

Seems like I heard once upon a time that you need around 120 psi for an engine to run. I suspect that is about as low as it needs to go. Some of the engineering types may chime in and give specifics, but you prolly need to do some wrenching on your saw.

    MS 290 update

I'm a little quick on the trigger sometimes and I'm prone to say about what's on my mind. I thank you for your views and experience and regret that it may have caused any bad feelings.i generally try to get along rather than get against. May you live long and prosper.

    MS 290 update

That's not my only saw. Also have a268 Husky plus a few more. I needed a saw with a20 inch bar at the time and wound up with the Stihl. Bought the Husky later.love the old Husky, but it's wearing a 28 inch bar at the moment, so I use the boat anchor, I mean 290.

    MS 290 update

Saw Dr asked if I had ground off the rakers and I took that to imply that I would do such a stupid thing. I may not know much about .325 chain, but I do know how to run a saw and I know what works for me and what works me harder. You guys that prefer .325, just keep on using it. I'm just posting...

    MS 290 update

No, I did not grind the rakers off, dipstick.

    MS 290 update

I need to clarify some issues. I took the green chain and ground off the bumpers, in effect making it non low kickback, and it still sucked. By shortening the bar and going with the 3/8 chain, it now cuts about like it should. Still like the flippy caps!!!

    MS 290 update

It pulls 3/8 chain real well with the 18 in bar. I just do not like that 325 chain. Some do , I don't!!

    Chainsaw Kickback

Keep a death grip on your saw and assume that it wants to cut pieces parts off you at all times. Pay very close attention to what you are doing at all times.

    MS 290 update

Well, I bought a MS 290 last year and it has been an experience. A lot of what I have experienced has been the result of buying something without doing some research on the subject, and as you have heard, the best lessons are the ones that you pay for! The saw came with a 20 inch bar with that...

    Poulan 3400 counter vibe

The old 3400 may be old but it ain't ready for the scrap heap yet. Wish they still made a good simple saw that would last like these.

    Poulan 3400 counter vibe

I have run a 3400 for damn near thirty years and its still going. Your chain is some kind of dull of it takes that long to cut through that little limb. Have it sharpened by someone that knows what is what and try it again. Those old saws will cut good enough and they have grunt in the cut , if...

Husqvarna 445 worm gear oiler dilemma

I not sure if the 455 shares the same oiling system as the 240, but I wouldn't be surprised. I had the same oiling problem and after changing out the oil pump, and pickup, it still wouldn't oil! The problem was the rubber piece carrying the oil up to the bar closing up when the bar was tightened...

    Poulan 3400 counter vibe

There are sure enough a lot of posts about a saw that has been out of production long enough that you can't get parts for it anymore. The last time I worked on mine, I had to get a set of rings from GREECE, for crying out loud!!! Mayhap Poulan should reintroduce this saw again! There ain't...

    Lend out a saw ?

This is the only way to loan out a saw! I recently loaned my brother my 141 Husky and don't really expect it back. His small Sthil won't run and I offered to give him the Husky, but he declined the offer, until he needed to work up the top of an oak. He's a GOATHEAD about most things, but he's...
