    Oil mix for 3120k

I just picked up a 3120k cutoff saw, which I will primarily be using for cutting steel. It has a sticker on the side calling for 25:1 oil ratio, with oil meeting iso E-GD I've been using amsoil saber at 40:1 in all my 2 stroke stuff for a while now. I was wondering how the saber stacked up...

    Diagnosing air leak on ms260

I have a 260 that was ported and muffler moded by the previous owner. It's been a great saw for a number of years, but just recently it started running very fast at idle. I tried to tune the carb, but it seems impossible to tune properly. It either won't idle at all, or its running way way to...

Are there any left- handed arborists out there???

I run the saw which ever way seems most safe and comfortable for what I'm cutting at the time. Just basic bucking up a log, the saws are meant to run righty, and tend to be more safe and comfortable to run that way. However, I can switch to the other side, and feel just as much at home if the...

Are there any left- handed arborists out there???

I write with my left Throw a ball with my right Hammer with my left (most of the time, but I change up from time to time) Shoot rifles as a righty Pistols, it depends on the gun, but for many I'm ambidextrous Chainsaws and circular saws, I don't have a preference.

Simple chainsaw mod i come up with

I use hockey tape for grip in a lot of places. It works really well for hammer handles, and I used it on the front handgrip on my 020.

    I saw it on Ebay/Craigslist

I saw one a while back for a crappy homelite 45cc saw, they were trying to claim that the "45cc" on the starter cover referred to the fact that the saw had 45 hp. They had it listed at $90, and claimed "only $2 a hp".

    gas bottle

My main gas can is a no spill. Works great! Plastics can be very questionable unless they were designed for gasoline. Even the aluminum water and beer bottles have a plastic liner. The premix cans are good for a cheap option, or go with the MSR fuel bottles if you want something more durable.

    $5 saw

would one of these saws fit a cannon carving bar?

    gas bottle

My dad has a friend that, on camping trips, carries one MSR fuel bottle full of fuel for the stove, and another identical bottle as a flask. You have to be real careful about which bottle you are holding before you take a swig.

    Is this repairable?

That would be the one. The middle section appears to be mill cut, but both ends of the cut, where the orange starts, appear to be broken, rather than cut. If it's suppose to be like that, then that's great. Does anyone else know what the deal is here?

    Is this repairable?

That line in the picture is the only black line, the rest of them are green.

    Is this repairable?

So while I had the cylinder off my dolmar 7900, some dirt and sawdust fell down in the crankcase, so I decided to pull everything apart and give the saw the cleaning it really needed. I removed the clutch and oil pump, and found this: I'm assuming that shouldn't be there? Can it be repaired...

    Sugihara Bar Where to buy..

HEV told me that I'd have to wait 2 months for a 24" bar for my Dolmar. Maybe that's when they are expecting the next shipment of bars?

    thoughts on chainsaw mills

Chainsaw mills are great when you have to bring the mill to the wood, rather than the other way around. I've seen them used in log construction a fair amount, for making very straight cuts on logs that are already part of the house. This setup works great for cutting windows and doors on log...

Lewis Mini Winch (chainsaw drive) questions

The older 020av saws were mostly 1/4" chain. Here's the photo with the VW bus: according to the article, the 1/2" hole to the left of the drum in your first photo is the anchor point. It looks like the mini bar pivots, is there enough slack in the chain if the bar is swung around backwards...

    Why an axe?

Hmm, maybe it's just me, but I could handle a hammer that carries me, rather than the other way around....

    Why an axe?

Maybe he was demonstrating what he would do if the tree actually was a big tree?

is your chainsaw tough enough to cut concrete ?

Interesting- no flippy cap. When does the R model come out?

    Ideal Mix

Some of my older saws call for 40/1, and I'm not mixing 2 different kinds of gas. 1.25 gallons gas, 1/2 cup of oil.

    Tell me I'm crazy

yep, you're mad as a hatter, but in this case, that's a good thing. Go for it, and be sure to document your progress on this forum! Hmm, I have access to the machine lab as part of being an engineering student....
