    carb limiter caps

Hey everybody.I have been working on an Echo CS 400 for a few days .It seems to be starving for fuel. The fuel lines look good, the filter is new.It doesnt have the lean sound like a saw sucking air.Im thinking about removing the limter caps and opening it up a bit.Do the caps need to be intact to...

    Stihl 460 problems

Hi everybody.I recently bought a good running Stihl 460 at a flea market.Saw starts easy and cuts great, but im having trouble with it idling. It will sit flat on the ground and idle fine, but as soon as you pick it up,it starts to idle very fast. Then if laid over on its right side(bar side)it...

    Husqvarna 240 carb adjustments

A friend of mine brought me a 240 Husky to do some repairs on yesterday.First off the saw is only 1 year old and has maybe 10 tanks of fuel ran through it.The primer bulb is completely rotted off.The saw has both hi and lo adjustment needles, but neither are slotted for a screwdriver. They have...

    Old Stihl 041,20:1 fuel mix?

Thanks for all the replies.I only use Stihl 2 cycle oil for everything, and have always mixed at 40:1.I think that 50:1 is lean myself, and with the 40:1 mix, even in newer saws,I have never had a problem with excessive smoke or carbon. As for my old homelites, its 16:1 always.Let em smoke.

    I shouldn't have said anything.

I hate selling saws.I have sold hundreds through the years, and every night i can hear them crying and screaming my name.Unless you are desperate for money, keep that saw

    Old Stihl 041,20:1 fuel mix?

bought an old 041 today at a flea market.Saw runs great other than a few missing housing bolts.Anyhow,I checked it out on acres and it showed a recommended 20:1 fuel mix ratio.Mine is the old style non AV model. The newer 041 AV shows a 40:1 mix.Was this perhaps a mishap ,or did the older Stihls...

McCulloch Pro Mac 700 Recoil issues

Ive had a few saws do this to me,and normally it is because of a worn spot in the pulley around the mounting hole.Normally a good sanding or flat filing will fix the problem

Bringing two Old Poulans Back to Life

Hi,and welcome aboard.First thing first, take the plugs out, hold them against the head, crank the saw and make sure you have spark.A bad coil can sometimes cost more than the saw.Second, pull the mufflers off, make sure the pistons and cylinders aint scored or gouged. If you have good top ends and...
