    Free Firewood Wanted

In Georgia (Atlanta/Athens area) and I could definitely use some timber. Have a 16' trailer, truck and a tractor. I will be more than happy to come get it, prefer it 7-8 ft long for loading with the tractor. Thanks.

    Opinions on PTO chippers

I have a small Wallenstein chipper (BXM32), and after a few months I've been really happy with it. Mine does not have a hydraulic feed, and is only good for 3 inches or so, but the machine itself is well built and works well. Hope that helps some.

    My 260 eats flippy caps.

Glad to see it's not just me and my 260, then. It's always been the gas cap for mine until yesterday, I went to pick it up and the oil had run out of it. The oil cap had cracked/split and left just enough gap for the oil to come out, so 2 or 3 gas caps to an oil cap are my numbers.

Interesting, I'll take a look at that. That sounds familiar.

I'm just borrowing it. :D Thanks. Need to emtpy mine as well.

    My 260 eats flippy caps.

I'm getting the impression that is where this is headed. It's already being intimated that I'm the idiot, even though it's only the one saw out of the collection of stuff I own that is giving me a problem. Send me a couple, then. The plastic cracks in the body, and it will no longer...

    My 260 eats flippy caps.

I have had more problems with the gas side, and don't use any specific gas, but do use Stihl oil mix. I use Stihl bar oil, and have only had to replace 1 oil cap. Now that you say that, though, I wonder if it's a new plastic in the caps and/or the ethanol? Who has some old flippy caps I can buy?

    My 260 eats flippy caps.

Only the 260. For instance, I bet the one's on my 390 are at least 4 or 5 years old, and they are the original. <-edit-> What happens is they crack, and quit sealing.

    My 260 eats flippy caps.

Ok, I have several pieces of Stihl equipment with the flippy caps, but the only one that ever gives me problems is the 260. Not the trimmers, not the other saws, etc. etc., just the 260. It doesn't get used more than the other stuff, so I'm at a loss.

    Vintage Saws still in service

Loud is indeed the word for those saws.

    C5 has lost it's grunt

I think our man was actually using the search engine for C5 stuff and came across this, saw an unanswered question and helped us out. Good stuff.

    C5 has lost it's grunt

It's a ghost from Christmas past, seeing as how it was posted in 2006. :D I found a bar for mine some time ago, it's a NOS 28" but I don't recall what saw it was supposed to fit.

chainsaws in the movies or on tv

Yeah, it was a joke about him using chainsaws all the time. He was enlisted by a town to save them from a monster, and they provided him with the saw to do the job. He responded "You know Jeff, I've gotten a lot of use out of chainsaws over the years. Killed a lot a zombies, saved a lot of...

    question on tree falling

I've seen stumps 12" or bigger similar to number 2 several times, and have never understood what someone was doing.

    been cutting alot lately (w/pics!)

The tractor is really helpful. The last few years trees have been falling left and right (because of the drought I imagine), I've had two oaks die in the last year on my property alone.

    been cutting alot lately (w/pics!)

Yeah, a 3 point splitter for the tractor. The lift on my tractor will pick up 600 lbs or so, and wouldn't lift those rounds. When I can get all the smaller wood I want why would I mess those beasts? But anyway, I'm not interested in a an argument about it being "a little sweat", or...

    been cutting alot lately (w/pics!)

I don't know, with smaller wood I can cut and split it so much faster. I also don't have to use the tractor to move it, and don't wear my thumb out pumping oil. :D Picked up the bar last year, it's a NOS 28" piece. It's actually for another Homey, but it was close enough to work on my C5...
