    usstove hotblast furnace

I have the model 1537G, I believe it is rated for 2500 sq ft. and I have about 1200. It will drive us out of here for sure if the temps arent low enough. I bought it because I got a great deal on it, and I guess I figured if I ever add on to our house like I need to it will still be plenty. I...

I have a Clayton hotblast made by US Stove Co. I probably wont be of much help to you though,I bought it in the spring when there was an end of season sale and I just put it in this fall. I have used it only a couple of times. I am using it as a stand alone furnace in my cellar, I have a...

    Triangular Wedge

I got mine right at the local walmart for less than $10 I think. They had the regular wedges and these. That was a 4 or 5 years ago but i am pretty sure they still have them. They are where they keep the Pullons, axes mauls and stuff.

Technical Term for the Tidbits ?

We call the short pieces nubbins. I usually take the longer ones and split them up really fine for kindling. The crooked or knotty pieces that wont split or stack good go next to the outside fireplace, they go good with cold beer.

    What about Timberjacks?

As far as Timberjacks go, I bought 2 "all metal" ones from Northern Tools a couple of years ago when they were on sale for like $19.99. One for me and one for my dad for Christmas. Not very good quality, we both bent or broke ours in the first few times of use (very thin steel tubing for what...

    Beech as firewood? Any good?

Excellent firewood. Not much oak around here, sugar maple and beech is prime stuff for our area. I prefer beech over maple, much cleaner, I will take all I can get my hands on. Usually splits pretty decent especially if frozen.

why is my new husky 359 so hard to start

2 or 3 pulls with choke on until it pops and then 2 at the most with the choke off for mine. I haven't noticed much difference with decompression off or on. Mine has been like this since new. Good luck, I hope it gets better or your dealer does something for you.

Bar Chain oil,Laundry deterget bottles, neat idea?

Thats exactly what I use Oldsaw. Wasnt sure what it was called, but it works good. I got it at Wallyworld for less than $2 I am pretty sure. My ole man laughed at it, but the oil goes just in the saw and not all over everything else. If its thicker when its cold just give the bottle a little...

    Chemical Soot/Creosote Remover

I sweep my own chimney. I cleaned it 2 weekends ago and got about half of a small coffee can full of creosote off. Mind you I have been burning my stove at lower than ideal temps for the last month or so and I havent used a CSL since late last winter or early spring. So I am betting most of the...

    Chemical Soot/Creosote Remover

I use a product called a Creosote Sweep Log. You basically throw it on a hot bed of coals and choke your stove off and let it smolder for a few hours. The smoke has a chemical in it that penetrates the creosote and makes it flake off and fall back into the stove. About a week later when the heat...

Firewood: So is everyone set for winter?

Yupp ciscoguy is correct folks around here call a cord of wood a stack 8ft long, 4 ft high and 16-18" wide. We say full or pulp cord for 4 x 4 x 8. Probably aint right, but thats the way the lingo goes around here. It took me a while to train myself to think like everyone else when I started...

    Wind and Wood

Mine didnt actually come off, but I did have to go out and pull it tight again a few times. There were time I looked out and there as about 4 feet of air between the wood and the tarp. I have about 20 gallon plastic milk jugs full of sand tied to my tarps to anchor them down. Along with concrete...

How do you remove the Muffler on a 359?

There are two holes on the front cover, thy have what looks like a pipe inside of them. All the way to the back of the muffler inside the pipes there is an allen screw. Take both of them out and the screws on the support bracket and it will come off.
