Best or easiest way to tighten skidder tire chains

My logging friends use a tool they had made. Grabs the chains and pulls them together in a scissor motion to be latched. Uses a threaded rod with a welded nut on it. Then battery powered impact to work it. Makes it very easy to get on and off and to do chain repairs.

Bark box performance on Stihl MS362 M tronic?

I’m holding my phone with my hand that has two injured fingers bandaged up, and trying to type with my other hand. Making a lot of errors that I’m missing. So I apologize for my previous message looking scrambled. Thank you @huskihl for clearing that up.

Bark box performance on Stihl MS362 M tronic?

I’ve got about 20 tanks of gas through the 661 and 660 saws, also one 500i on my dyno. Open outlets through the cover don’t make as much power as a large side exit opening does. Also, the side exit is a bit quieter. No muffler at all makes more power than a factory complete muffler with...

Will this ported 026/ms260 pull a 32 inch bar?!

My friends and I did in between testing off our 026 and 260 in wood with 16 inch bars and 24 inch bars. We both do several cuts at the same time in a log. His 026 with the way it’s ported will beat my ported large carb 260 using 16 inch bars. We both swap out to the 24 inch, my 260 easily...

Will this ported 026/ms260 pull a 32 inch bar?!

My ported MS260 wears a 24” bar and I use it, not just to test.

    wow a ported 066/660.

Figured I’d revive this thread as I’m the current owner of this 066/660 chip slinger. I purchased it back in April 2014 from fin460. I don’t think I’ll ever sell it as it always puts a big grin on my face. I have a 36” Stihl bar for it that it mostly wears with the occasional 28” ES Light...

    Lifespan of a saw engine

Stihl 661 cm computer data: 1,010 hrs, started 12,*** some times, etc, died. replace with a new saw. I find the 660’s to be more reliable but none have hour meters to prove it. :( I got mine used and it’s well used looking.

    HOA being difficult

We need pics of walking through the forest on the trail with chainsaw over the shoulder! ;)

    HOA being difficult

The HOA president should be slapped with a fine for running into a work zone that involves dangerous machinery and nearly knocking the operator over.

OK so do I really need it? Or do I just want it???!

That's good news. It's not really fair for saws to just sit on the shelf and just look pretty. I would want them to be used as what they were made to do.

Rockjock: well, you were taking to long to jump. Every member said to get the 460. One member even tried pushing. Then I went to get the cattle prod. But yes, it's time to cull the herd.

How many are running square ground?

Hello, I would like to use square ground as well. I've made one 3 years ago out of a .325 chain that was nearly worn out. It does cut much better but I have no file to use to sharpen again. I have a Oregon wheel that I dressed to the angle I needed to do the chain and it works well. Just...

Stihl MS260 - 044 Carb and Echo filter swap...

15,200 rpms is what I got in mine with the modded filter. 17,400 without. But my last race, the saw inhaled something without the filter. Worn the intake skirt down and now it can't keep the mix in. Sprays gas/oil back out the carb. Saw still runs fine, but only with filter on. Now 14,400...

Stihl MS260 - 044 Carb and Echo filter swap...

I love my 260 with the 044 carb on it which I did with Blsnelling's how to post. On the dyno, the 260 is as powerful as a ms362 while being smaller and lighter yet. I'm still using a stock filter but the fleece has been cut out and replaced with foam on both sides. There's only 1,200 rpms...

Mastermind Worksaws Finally Gets More Help

If they're mennonite or amish, everything is still manual labour. But that's changing now. Some hobby farms or dairy farms are still loading small squares by hand into the barn but most have balers with bale throwers to speed up work. (More people unloading at the barn while one operates...

Mastermind Worksaws Finally Gets More Help

That's true, tractors nowadays are big tires, front suspension, cab suspension, air ride seat, finger tip controls, GPS controlled steering, etc. My tractor, no cab, 16 speeds, 2 lever loader control, spring suspension seat, little tires, no anti-vibe engine mounts. Biggest issue I have with...
