    The bore cutting rage/fad

I use the bore cut quite a bit and have practiced with it on trees that really didn't need any special cutting just in order to get it down and get it into my arsenal. It is kind of nice to use the bore cut for using a snap cut. Where as you set up the notch bore cut and then make a back cut...

    Wolf Claw Climbers

They're junk don't bother messing with them. You'd get better production out of a couple nails duct taped to your boots. They're uncomfortable and just junk for what they cost.

    brown lung

I had problems last summer with American sycamore chipping it and the dust would float and get in your throat and scratch to no end. But a guy I worked with suggested chewing gum and that seemed to work. We think that the gum actually catches some of the particles and it works that way.

    Poison Ivy

I use two things I use the Ivy block that is a lotion that you put on. I've heard guys taking pills that are made up of ground up poison ivy. This helps to boost your immune system to the stuff. Or when I get it I have a prescription of one of the steroid packs. It's like a week long thing...

I"ve never really put a whole lot of thought into it. Or really cared to pay enough attention to what I do. It's just like a second nature of do what I do.

    Student researching a class project

Go to vermeer up on the north side of Indy there in Fischers. There you will find prices on various ropes saws, chippers, grinders, etc. The only thing you will not come across is the bucket truck at this location. You might try contacting the Bartlett office in Indy. They're large...

    Coon Smack!

Well you should've killed the little critter and skinned him. That would be a nice pelt free of any holes from a gun shot. Skin it and tan the hide. coon skin doesn't bring much money but it brings some. Around here you could've gotten around 5-10 dollars for that thing depending on size...

Need Help Assembling New Buckingham Spurs!

Are you taking over a new lead clearance? Plus being a college guy you'd think that they'd teach him that spiking is bad on prunings to learn to climb spikeless first. I know we never even put on a pair of spikes in class. It was all spikeless and the spikes had to be learned elsewhere.

please confirm white mulberry is trash tree

Settle and pay an amount for the tree. Yes the tree is not as desirable as others but that's a fairly large diameter tree and probably provided shade to the neighbor as well as other values. If the owner of the tree is smart they do a value analysis done by a certified arborist and take into...

    How many is the question

The worst awful smelling was that of a rotting coon that I cut through. I was cutting away from the bucket and out started to ooze green water that was from a dead rotting coon. The water leaked into the bucket and was so rancid I had to stop work and go clean out the bucket to survive the...

    Firewood transporting in Ohio

We have quarantines here in Indiana as well. As far as the movement of pulpwood and everything else. All trees can be chipped and moved or debarked and moves as trees for lumber as long as there's no bark on them or they've been chipped. Working in Marion county over the summer we had to cut...

How to stop Sweet Gum ball growth???

I am pretty sure unless you do a foliar spray this year that you will still get the seed balls off of your sweet gum. Sherrill has the capsules that will work. The stuff from sherrill is called Snipper and is in the small capsule micro injections. You need one capsule for every 4 inches of...

How to stop Sweet Gum ball growth???

The sprays work well and also there is a soil drench and micro injections that can be used. The injections and drench will not work this year but will be effective for the following year. Right now the inhibitors are fairly untested and unproven with a high perecentage rate. I've been told...

    Chipping for climbers

It's a shame you're not over here by me. I would loved to have a clean up guy around. I actually just bought a 6 inch vermeer for $1700 so I'm set to go now. How much are you looking to spend on a chipper? I know where there's an old asplund chipper that you might be able to get a hell of a...
