I think 99% of them had red and blue switches.. I was told by an old partner dealer that the earlier 16s had yellow switches.. He believed the red and blue colors were made for the North American market. Whether that's true or not I don't know.. But they do exist

I believe the r417 had antivibe handles.. bore size would certainly help narrow it down.. Even a picture of the cylinder

My guess is a R 16 with newer covers.. Mainly because of the older muffler , non antivibe handle and the spark plug boot . I don't think I seen a top cover like that before. To know for sure you have to dig deeper.. Just my 2 cents

Went to look at the 3 500s.. 2 are 5000 + and 1 is poulan 325.. All 3 run great don't even have to sharpen the chains... Anyone have any info on the Poulan.. It looks like a 5000 to me.

That would solve my problem :-)... I'm on my way to look at three 500s. If I can buy them right I will flip them to take some of the heat off

Can anybody explain to me the sudden interest in the 5000 plus... It's no secret that I do have a bunch of them but I have had them for years. Seems lately that everybody wants one . And offering some good money for old obsolete saws. One young fellow in particular showed up at my house...

The cracked vent shouldn't cause the saw to smoke

I finally remembered. It wasn't the carb . Check the fuel line or the vent line where they pass through the body. They tend to leak raw gas with the PTO side up and it'll draw in the air filter

I had one a few years back acting similar.. It turned out being in the carb.. I can't remember what I done to solve the problem

That is a tough question. The practical use of the saw has long since passed . To be a shelf queen it would need some work . I personally have never seen one before so I would pay $125. To somebody that really wants one it is worth more. And to somebody that really wants to sell it is worth...

Getting one from Bob would be the proper thing to do for sure.. The price seems very reasonable but I am afraid the shipping ,custom charges and exchange rate may make it impractical..
