Stihl M Tronic issues across the board?

Some love the Mtronic some don't. I personally don't care for it. For most users it is the perfect answer for tuning a saw. For someone like me who knows how they want their saw to run it can be a pain. It won't be long and we won't have a choice in a new saw.

    Timing Advance

Sorry not Brad but I have advanced the timing on several 026 and 026 PRO models. I opened the muffler up to go along with the advance. All responded well but some more than others. I have one that is getting tired and it gave the most noticable increase on that saw. All saws have the fully...

    Tuning a Stihl MS260 Pro with 18" 3/8 bar

An 18" 3/8 bar will keep the engine loaded while in the cut so the duty cycle will be fairly high. This will create heat and a lean tune will have even more heat. Watch several tuning vids on the Tube and get an idea for what four stroking sounds like compared to when it cleans up in the cut...

    MS 362 Hot Starting issues

There is an air adjustment on the carb for idle. It's factory set and supposed to be no need to adjust. I've had the very same issues with the 362Cs. I adjust the screw so it doesn't engage the clutch while idling. It's a very small hex set screw that touches the throttle bore linkage. Its...

What chain fits this Stihl bar?

    16" hard-nose .050 guage. Will be a 60 drive 3/8 or a 67 drive .325 in .050 guage. Hard-nose bars are not pitch specific.

    Swap a NGK BPMR7A for a NGK BPM7Y?

The 7a would work just fine. The fact it's a resistor plug might make it fire a little better. I prefer the resistor plugs.

    MS362c Need help

100 is low on compression but your guage could be off. Your pics from the muffler side didn't show much. Any lines up and down the piston would be bad. Spark needs to be verified when the fault occurs. M tronic is great when it works but a real pain if it has issues.

    Husqvarna 288xp RING'S???

NWP has supplied rings that look like that in the past. I wouldn't worry till compression is low.

Advice on how to clear land

28 acres is a good size track of land for a novice to clear. A dedicated forestry machine will literally mulch everything down to ground level or just below and return most of the debris back to the earth making a decent bed for planting. These are expensive machines but should clear a couple...

    Take that, you f%$!!**g chainsaw!

I was an innocent bystander when a problem saw went through the chipper. The guy working the ground fought the saw every time he went to start the thing. Didn't seem to bother the chipper at all. I'm sure he claimed Accident but those present knew better.

Stihl 028 Super run 3/8 picco

@drf255 Just did an 026 with Picco. Rim bar and chain would be the same for an 028.

Stihl 028 Super run 3/8 picco

You can get Picco rims and adapt bars to fit. Might try regular 3/8 too. An 028 super is right on the verge of being happy with regular 3/8.

    Stihl a good idea?

Huztl is Farmertec. Google the names to find the site and look at their parts. Parts come direct from China and take a couple weeks to arrive. They are a reputable company

    Stihl a good idea?

Nothing difficult just not the six bolts and a clamp we have gotten to use to on the pro saws. If you are able to disassemble and reassemble simple machines you won't have any trouble.

    Stihl a good idea?

I have installed a Farmertec 390 jug and it was good quality out of the box. Much better than some of the Chinesium crap. If they are right they are easy to start. A muff mod is mandatory. I have no experience with longevity of the Farmertec kit but it was less than $30. An OEM 390 jug and...

    Stihl a good idea?

With a 390/039 jug they actually perform well for their weight. Power to weight ratio is the only real downside to an 029. They are a bit intricate to teardown but the average user won't have any desire to open one up.

Want to Buy 046 Magnum Recoil Start Assembly

Of the Chinese parts available the recoils are pretty nice.

    OEM or Meteor

In all my travels the Meteor is equivalent to OEM. I buy OEM when the price allows but Meteor has served me very well.
