    Echo or Dolmar

Dolmar PS540 is not a particularly strong running saw for its size and weight. However, a Dolmar 115 top end will bolt right on and turn it into a pretty good saw. Plus then you have the clutch driven oiler. Don't get me wrong, it's a nice handling, well constructed, and good starting saw...

...Anyone ever pinned a sloppy crank bearing?

Loctite 620. Used it on motorcycle bearings and loose splines on JD 720 diesel flywheel. Doesn't come loose without lots of heat (oxy-acetelyne)

Lubegard 2 cycle oil users out there?

Yes, from the junk (melon) and the spermaceti organ, both of which are in the head, the one with the brain that is. Shoot, that doesn't help either. The one with the mouth.

Lubegard 2 cycle oil users out there?

Found some more information. Lubegard's LXE (Liquid Wax Ester) is made by esterification of rapeseed (canola) oil.

Lubegard 2 cycle oil users out there?

It is extracted from the "junk" of a sperm whale.

Lubegard 2 cycle oil users out there?

From Wikipedia: "In the US, whale oil was used in cars as an additive to automatic transmission fluid until it was banned by the Endangered Species Act.[24] Prior to 1972, over 30 million pounds of Sperm Whale oil was used annually in lubricants because of its exceptional lubricity and heat...

Lubegard 2 cycle oil users out there?

Poking around on there website (International Lubricants Inc.), they offer a biodegradable chainsaw bar oil. It's a little pricey though. Also, their story is kind of interesting. The liquid wax ester used in many of their products is a synthetic molecule designed to replace sperm whale oil...

Lubegard 2 cycle oil users out there?

Which is exactly why I was looking for user experiences. The manufacturer claims the oil is great, but most marketing is just hype (I should know, had to take marketing classes for my MBA). I like the way the saws run and smell and don't smoke. But is it any good? I don't use or keep saws...

    Saving an 029

If it were me, rather than take a chance, drop an 039 p&c on it and have a saw that has a respectable power to weight ratio.

Help with rim sprocket for Solo 651

I emailed this site on Friday asking if they would sell and ship to the U.S. Tried Jacks Small Engine and didn't find anything but didn't contact them further.

    Shop Re-Sharpened Chains vs. Factory

Regular grinding wheels have a tendancy to load up, especially when trying to take light cuts. The pores fill with smeared metal. Then they will not cut freely and will create friction and heat. Coolant and frequent dressing of the wheel help keep the sharp edges of the abrasive exposed...

It does have a color to it. More yellow/orange not blue/green.

Lubegard 2 cycle oil users out there?

I don't know if it has any fuel stabilizer. I stumbled onto it looking for a product to help condition seals. They have both a 2 cycle oil with seal conditioner and just oil...

    Shop Re-Sharpened Chains vs. Factory

If you get a grinder do yourself a favor and buy one of these. http://www.diamondwheelinc.com/chain-saw-wheels.html 4 times the price of a grinding wheel but no dressing, no burning, and last a long, long time. I've had mine for over 10 years and they still work good.

    Need a new saw...help?

EFCO 152 is close to your price range. But given the price difference, the Tanaka is a better bang for the buck. I've owned both and the Tanaka is as good or better in construction and performance. Can't speak to durability with the Tanaka though...

Lubegard 2 cycle oil users out there?

I am not trying to open a can of worms and start another oil debate. I bought some Lubegard 2 cycle oil and I like the fact that there is little to no smoke and no obnoxious smell, but I have no idea if it is a good lubricant that will be easy on the equipment. I am looking for FIRST HAND...

Help with rim sprocket for Solo 651

Yes. I talked to Solo USA and they said the drum is no longer available, at least here. Archer is the only after market brand that still makes one, but have not been able to track down a retailer in the US that can get me one. The drum for an Echo saw is the closest I've found. I am going to...
