    McCulloch Chain Saws

It's been a long time since I've been here and I just popped in to read a bit. Most here are into the newer saws or models I don't mess with. I can answer your question about the 4-30A. These 50's gear drives are all I collect, run and rebuild. The 4-30A model was an upgraded more powerful saw...

Want to Buy McCulloch gear drive saws, bars, parts

I'm looking for say 32-42" hard nose bars to fit the old McCulloch 4-30, 73, 77 saws. Would like a fortified tip bar but I'll consider others. Longer bars I'll consider as well. Seized parts saws I could use especially a 73 or 77 those are what I tinker with , collect, rebuild and run the most...

What saws do my fellow wood cutters have??

It's all good. I don't get upset over much. You run what you like and that's all that matters. I do take a lot of pride in maintaining , running and preserving my saws. I do have direct drives as well I'll run just depending on what I'm cutting. I just really enjoy running the big ole gear...

What saws do my fellow wood cutters have??

Talk about brand loyalty and being sensitive.... Some guys do get bent out of shape if you don't like their saws like your talking about their woman or mother. Makes no sense to me. I know a lot of guys don't like my big old gear drive McCulloch 77 because it's old and heavy. I'll put it up...

What saws do my fellow wood cutters have??

Cutting up some fallen Ash with the Mac 77 yesterday... Running 9/16" chipper on a 36" roller nose... Nick Sent from my N9560 using Tapatalk

What saws do my fellow wood cutters have??

I myself am saw selective. I only buy and or collect certain models of saws. I don't want 400 saws lined up or a pile over there and there and out back. To me that's worthless, ridiculous. I like to run each and every saw I own so I keep it small. I've only got around 30-35 saws total but...

What saws do my fellow wood cutters have??

Couple more for the hell of it... These get run now and then, some more than others, some not much for condition. I rebuilt the 797 and it's a great runner. Super 44A Is just too nice to run but ill run it a bit. Strong saw at 200psi. Homelite 990D also has 200psi at 112cc is also powerful...

What saws do my fellow wood cutters have??

I'm not a logger but I cut wood yearly and collect older saws. I run a Super 250, 4-30A and a Mac 77 on a regular basis. Then for Homelite I run a Super 1050 a lot.. Don't care for newer saws at all I'm old school all the way... I run others as well but these are what I run regularly...

    McCulloch Chain Saws

Yes indeed. I thoroughly enjoy breaking my saws down and cleaning them up, making new gaskets, replacing seals, etc... Getting it all back together and making it breath fire again. The early rotary valve saws are my favorites to work on and tune. Love those big beasts especially the 73...

    McCulloch Chain Saws

I tear down all of my saws especially the ones that get run which are 99% of them. These are 40-60+ years old and most have original gaskets and seals which are oil soaked, rotten, seals shot, etc. I like my saws leak free and to start with a pull or two and be reliable. I use several to...

    McCulloch Chain Saws

I believe the earliest S250 saws with the sticker that has SUPER and 250 below it centered are 80cc, plain covers. Then the porthole covered saws with Super 250 on one straight line are 87cc along with the black porthole saws. I've got a real clean low hour yellow top porthole 250 that's more...

    Anybody collect anything besides chainsaws?

Damn that must be huge. I've never gotten into trains much at all. I just have what my grandmother gave me. I was more into hunting, guns, fishing, motorcycles as a kid. Had some tonka toys and matchboxes which I still have in a case or two from my childhood. I had some race cars or track cars...

    Anybody collect anything besides chainsaws?

Thanks I appreciate the info. I'll find the transformer and take some pics. It is quite large and it worked years ago last time I ran the trains. They all were running at one time when I was a kid. Now forty years later I've nearly forgot about them. Crappy pics but all I have till daylight...

    Anybody collect anything besides chainsaws?

I have some trains my great grandma gave me around forty years ago. Her husband collected them. Don't know the scale but they are metal mostly, Japan on the bottom, about a dozen locomotives, cars, track, buildings, huge transformer. Been packed away for years but a locomotive I kept out...

    McCulloch Chain Saws

Every saw I've had that came with a chip ran like crap. After I put points back in they ran great. Only one saw I have runs good with a chip and that my Homelite super 1130G. Other than that I have no use for chips. I prefer to keep saws original myself. Sent from my 0PM92 using Tapatalk

    McCulloch Chain Saws

You guys are into these 82cc saws a lot it seems. I am strictly old gear drives as in 4-30, 49, 73, 77, etc... I recently had the opportunity to get a double eagle 80 in real nice shape. Just needs a clutch cover to be compete and look nice. Has 170 psi so should be a strong runner. I'm not sure...
