My Wife Thinks This is A A For Chainsaw Junkies

This is the chainsaw world's version of a topless bar with free beer... :^)

    What's wrong with this picture...

Won't a stainless screw seize in this kind of application?

    Global warming and burning firewood

It's the unburnt fuel that's the problem with two strokes. More of a problem than you'ld first guess. That said, anyone who collects their own fuel, water, food, etc is likely to be less of a drain on the environment than the city folk who just "turn up the gas" in winter.

    Saw run with no oil..

If it runs and cuts well, then don't take it into the shop. Just use it.

    Best 30cc chainsaw?

I like the MS180, although the easy2flood feature got me the other month. Once you flood one, the easy2start feature makes the 180 darn hard to start. Normally no problems, but if you flood it you're screwed (pull the plug or wait a while) I'd buy a 180 again, but maybe the 170 is...

    Global warming and burning firewood

Two things: (1) I'm not sure that your firewood helps prevent forest fires. Around here, the fire front is driven nearly entirely by fuel a quarter inch or smaller. Lots of other stuff burns, but only after it has been lit by the small stuff. Crown fires are driven by surface fires...

What kind of 2 stroke oil are you using??

I use whatever the dealer says I should use. Sure, there are a lot of good oils, but even expensive oil is cheap and this way I'll never get into an argument about whether the oil was wrong.

    Pawnshop Saws...your experience?

Down here you need ID to sell or buy at a pawn shop. If you are selling, you get photographed too. The big chain pawn shops report their entire inventory including serial numbers to the police via computer. This seems to be a good system. Without some system like this you might as well buy...

    Pawnshop Saws...your experience?

Around here the pawn shops seem to want MORE than retail price! The only time there is a deal is when they don't know what they have got.

    Best power to weight?

    Around about 0.065 hp/lb ???

    Best power to weight?

OK, which Chainsaw forum poster has the best power to weight ratio? ie, combined power of your saws DIVIDED BY the weight of the owner! So.... If you were the first guy voted off "Biggest Loser" and you've got a Wildthang, then you're probably coming last. Count 1.5 hp per cu...

Advice on a chainsaw for a newbie

Drain the fuel tank for storage, but don't run it till it quits. In a two stroke the fuel is your lubrication. Also as it runs out of gas the mixture will get really lean and the saw may overrev.

    husqvarna 346xp VS. STIHL MS260PRO

I'd definitely take the 346xp over the 260Pro.

    281 xp lives!

I hope you enjoy the saw! I've got a 288xp (virtually the same saw) and it wears a 20" bar some of the time. A 281/288 cuts pretty darn well wearing a 20".
