    Rolling rounds behind garden tractor?

Sycamore is not to hard to split IF you split with the growth rings instead of across the round. Knock off tangent slabs and work toward the center.

    falling a tree..proper cut locations

Except for some testing with the coos bay cuts, I have always used the bore cut on leaners. I'll try almost anything that doesn't sound too crazy when it doesn't matter if things go wrong. I have yet to see a tree that would be better dropped with a coos bay cut instead of boring.

Looks like a waste to me, wouldn't use it if it was free.

Question regarding Removing fastener from tree

I have used a deep hole saw made from hard tubing to bore around embeded objects, but I wouldn't try to remove those wires, just pull them straight and leave them there. Add more wire if the tree grows enough to cover them, so any one cutting the tree in the far future might notice that...

How to fix latest screw up

I would put a cable on the trunk above the prop limbs crotch, run it to a comealong chained to one of the trees in the background, pull enough tension to releive some of the pressure on the prop closest to the camera, then start cutting that prop limb from the bottom one stick of wood at a time

    WOOD STOVE FLUE SIZE

A far better charcoal making method is to load hardwood into a nearly closed container that can be heated by an external heat source. A large drum that has a replaceable lid can work well. I fill the drum with hard wood chunks, prop the lid end up on a rack that holds the end of the barrel...

    Geckos too narrow?

Get boots to fit your feet, then find spurs that fit the boots, and your legs and back will thank you. My feet are too big for geckos, also. Try before buy!

    Splitting/Chopping Tool Review Thread

Felling ax lengths were standarized at 36 inches back when the average logger was 5 foot 2 inches tall. If you are taller you might like a longer haft. I make most of mine 6 inches longer. I know I hit harder and I think more accurately with the longer hafts. The accuracy is most likely because...

Fiskars X27 What a Piece of Plastic

The fine wires that are used in some tires are under the tread and I don't think anyone has ever dulled an ax by hitting them! I guess there may be some that don't cut the bead off and miss so bad that they hit the tire instead of the wood but they aren't likely to be doing much splitting anyway.

    Depth of face cut

That's what I call them, but I believe a true snatch block is one that can be attached mid-line.

    Depth of face cut

Deeper notches do move the center of gravity and will increase the amount of top movement a given wedge will provide. Try laying them down closer to parallel with the fence, it is easier to get a tree to fall sideways to the lean than directly against the lean. Rope pull is much more reliable...

What tools and methods do you use for firewood?

This is the type of wheel barrow for firewood. Works best in rough pulled. Lower CG helps a bunch.
