    how high is too high?

I stack as high as I can reach, but only if it is in a rack. 8n feet is about as high as I can reach

Wood flying out of the splitter

I have a 27 ton and I have learned that the splits will pop when there were limbs/crotches on the logs.

    Did some milling today

Beautiful slabs. I have been thinking about getting some pignut hickory logs milled. Never tried my hand, but why not. People on pinterest and the ladies I teach with love "rustic" Thanks for sharing. Looks like the white ash I cut in Ohio

Hickory firewood. Pain in the Butt!!

I have 5 to cut in a pasture. All shags. They will sit a few years before they see flame, but for my money there isn't a better wood to watch through the stove window. Hickory has personality!

    660R with 41" bar?

I run a 36" on my 660 mag from time to time, but I prefer my 25" or 30". My O51 seems more comfortable with a 41" .404. I Marist say that I use the 36" and 41" for cutting bigger stuff for 2" rounds though. A buddy of mine got married and the bride wanted cupcake stands made from big 2" thick...

    Got your wood in yet??

I have plenty, but I move it from my stacks to the gazebo near the house. I have almost 3 cords stacked in there now. Have a lot of moving to do to put (my goal) 6 total cords in there. Have 12 cords of red and white oak I wanna leave another winter. It will be 3 years cut, split next year.

    1000 Pounds of Bark

I don't leave it in the house for days, the bark is under cover of weather and I bring it in just before the fire.

    1000 Pounds of Bark

I think it was here on AS that I read about drilling holes in plastic trash cans to store kindling, bark, sticks, noodles, etc. in. I have 4 full right now

    1000 Pounds of Bark

Most ash around here is losing bark standing, loses it when split, etc. I have loads of it. I start all my fires with old bark. Red oak bark from the is a couple inches thick a lot of times too. I catch hell for a buddy about it, but it all burns and I find it useful.

What have you added to your arsenal

The 268 wearing that stihl 20" is my favorite saw. That thing really rips. It was my first Husqvarna and I have two stills that are gonna head out the door. The bar adapters from Homelite make it easy to switch bars too

    How much wood?

I enjoy all, threads on AS, mainly because I learn something I did not previously know. In this case though, math is math. New vs. old, but at the end numbers do not lie (unless you reside in D.C.). I personally stockpile as much as I can from as many places as I can and store it wherever I...

    Starting to split some maple

Recently cut a dead maple down I my yard and acquired almost (what I think) will be 2 cords of sugar maple. Maple is not my favorite to hand split, so I went to the splitter quickly. Won't be nearly as easy to stack as Oak and ash either. I have come a cross a bunch of "uglies"

Red oak - cut to length a year ago but not split

If you can afford to wait I wood (;)). I have split some standing dead or fallen oak smaller and kept it stacked inside and near the stove to speed it up too. Great score regardless, congrats.
