Here's a couple before and after pictures of a hatchet soaked in vinegar. First to are before ,second two are after.

I have about 3/4 of a gallon of mortor and brick cleaner left over from a small brick laying job. It contains hydrocloric acid and was thinking about trying a hatchet in it. Any comments??

I just went out to the garage and checked the hatchet i have soaking in vinegar. After 24hrs. i was very pleased. I wire brushed it a little and put it back in the vinegar for another day. I'll take it out tommorow and post pics. Thanks for the tips guys. I new i could get some good tips here...

Thanks for all of the replys. I tried a wire wheel on my grinder on one hatchet and it works good but seems to wear down the lettering and embossing a little so i stopped after doing one. I think i will try the electrolsis on one and see how it works. I will take some pics during the process and...

Just wondering if anyone else collects axes and hatchets. What is the best way to clean rust off of them and keep it off?

The 58lbs.per foot will have thicker flanges and web than the 40lbs per foot. I ca'nt tell you the dimensions but the place where you are buying the beams will know them.

I've used www.auctionstealer.com for years. It works for me.

Mine does the same thing when its cold and then it works fine after warmed up.
