What Saw Is In Your Truck Just In Case.....

I carry all the saws in my signature in the tool box all the time. I lined the bottom with a layer of 1/4 Styrofoam and 2 layers of carpet. The way everything fits in, there's no lateral movement. All the climbing gear is behind the seat in the truck , also all the time. The windows are...

Anyone climb on a Omni Block Swivel Pulley?

The piece is not designed for use on a bridge. It's primary use is for rigging mechanical advantage systems for rescue or load hauling. There's also a double pully with a becket. Because it's not locking, it's unacceptable for primary life support. They are supposed to be coming...

    going bigger. ms460 7900

Budgets and CAD have little in common. Of course if you buy too little saw and have to go back and purchase a bigger saw later, it'd be cheaper to save a little more and bite the bullet. How's that for budgeting?

You only buy it once. A year from now you won't care what you paid. A 660 with a DP muffler....priceless.

    Have you ever....?????

I saw a crew working across from my place awhile back. Stopped and talked to the climber as he was leaning against his truck taking a break. Noticed he had a gibbs on his lanyard as an adjuster. I use tress cords and micro grabs. I said " What do you think of the gibbs as a lanyard...

Scary noob experience yesterday, please help

Hey Man, I'm not telling you to give up. Just go about it the right way, when you can. 1000.00 will get you started. Barely. Consider spending 500 of your 1000 budget on the 1st arbor master climbing course. They have one at the biltmore estate in April , take the family and make...

    One saw, one chain solution

Tom, What would you say to a guy who buys 1 or 2 saws a year and loads of chains when he says " If you'll give me 10 % off list I'll buy it today." ?

Scary noob experience yesterday, please help

Here you go then. http://arbormaster.com/ Sign up for the climbing course. Then the climbing 2 course. Then the rigging course. Then then the advanced rigging. Throw in an aerial rescue course and you are good to go. The courses are about 500 bucks each. Add about 5000.00...

Scary noob experience yesterday, please help

Here's my advice : Give up the treework. Not because of the danger, but because it's the most expensive hobby you could ever chose. The only way the cost of gear and equipment makes sense is if you make money with them. I mean really...... Have you checked out the prices of this stuff ...

    New or used?

I only buy new. I need the write offs and I know I'm not inheriting someone else's problems. But I think if I was a homeowner or an occasional wood cutter I'd cruise Craig's list and pawn shops though.

2 saw plan - which Stihl to run besides a 361

Hey, let's face it. There really isn't such a thing as a 2 saw plan. A man with 2 saws is just getting started. He just hasn't formulated his plan. Everyone knows it takes at least 4 saws. 1) 660 2) 460 3) 260 4) 200t And maybe a 361 also. But what would I know. I'm...

12" bar or 14" bar on climbing saw?

    I run a 14 on my 200T's. I don't own a 192, but if I did I'd run a 12 on it. Like already posted, if you need a bigger bar, it's time for a bigger saw.

2 saw plan - which Stihl to run besides a 361

361 and 660. Two saw plan. Add a few extra bars for the 660 in 20, 25 and 36 and you will fear no tree.
