Mcculloch Pro Mac 800 Newbie Carb Adjustment Question

Hi everyone. I finally got my Dad's old saw in running order again. I have a carb adjustment question. I'm assuming you adjust the low and high screws one full turn out from closed and then fine tune idle and high speeds. Where do I start with the screw that holds the throttle open? It's a...

your right, the ground is not used and must made when you tighten the coil down. The saw is firing fine now. Still doesn't start. Fuel delivery problem I think now. Into the carb I go. I might need a carb rebuild kit, you have any of those?

Calvin the coil showed up today, thanks so much. Quick question. There is only one terminal on the new coil and it is not marked. I assume the single terminal is used for the switch and the other gnd wire on the saw is not used? Thanks.

I've never heard of a points replacement module. Do you have a link as to where I can get. I'm curious because it would be a good addition to the tools for troubleshooting. Thanks for getting it out for me. I'm very sorry to hear the bad news about your father. God bless.

Whoops, sorry, I thought that I posted the results after the gap was set. No luck. I used a credit card to set the gap between the coil and the flywheel. Still no spark.

Thanks for posting that fluke sheet on how to troubleshoot ignitions. Let me ask a question, I don't quite understand how the SW terminal fits in. The motor is shut off when the SW is grounded. Where does it fit in when it comes to the primary and secondary winding? Your right about the SW...

Yes I've tried to run it without the kill wire connected. Still no spark. Thanks for the suggestion.

Just checked behind the flywheel and there are no wires. Had a good look with a flash light and inspection mirror and there are no points. Measured resistance between the spark plug end and the GND and SW terminals. Reading 2.4k Ohms on both terminals. I pretty sure that the coil is bad. I...

I pm'd you. Thanks so much for the help. My Dad was told that the saw could not be fixed because parts were no longer available. I'm sure the local repairman could not be bothered trying to source parts.

The saw is in great shape, so I guess it'll be worth it. I need a saw dust cover like this one as well: http://cgi.ebay.com/McCULLOCH-NEW-SAW-DUST-GUARD-PRO-MAC-800_W0QQitemZ360175829961QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item53dc2703c9&_trksid=p3286.m20.l1116 You wouldn't happen...

    Mcculloch Pro Mac 800

Hi everyone. Working on my Dad's old Pro Mac 800. I have a little experience with chainsaws and I was wondering if anyone can confirm my findings. 1)The saw is not firing. Checked the on/off switch and it works properly opening and closing circuit to case ground. The ignition coil looks...
