    the Irony is how they do so much of a better job than Manufacturers do now days, true some/most of that is down to the EPA etc, but just the same is it to much to ask that they pay a little more attention to their quality output?

    Normal for Factory Parts, They do as little to them as possible to get the final product out the door.

    I bought the last "Made in the USA" Craftsman Screwdriver set sears had a couple years ago, if they ever go back to "Made in the USA" Tools I'll buy a new set of mechanics tools to celebrate, until then, I wont be buying "Crapsman" Tools as I call them.

    the beetles are hitting everything here that hasn't been sprayed with some-kind of insecticide, primarily soft woods but also wild hardwoods, part of why the last 5 years of fire seasons have been crazy here.

    Not exactly on the bench anymore but I gave my 044 a paint job. FYI #1: Paint Was Krylon Color Master CoverMax in Pumpkin Orange (Almost an exact Match for Stihl Orange) Black, white and everything was given 3 coats of gloss clearcoat. FYI #2: the stuff takes up to 3 weeks to completely cure.

    That's a nice sized hunk of cherry. Most around here don't get much bigger than 12" before the beetles kill them (thanks to the bunch of eco freaks that seeded the area with wood boring beetles to try to make logging unprofitable)

    is their any particular benefit? i have read some suggestions that the larger gauges keep oiled a bit better but I have no experience with them.
