    Norwood LM2000 power load

Nice! If you were to put a sharp hook on it, could you use it to turn the logs once you had sawn one side?

    Bandsaw leveling jacks mod

What are you using for ramps? I have been using a couple of 4x4's I have trouble holding the log while I take another bite with the hook. I usually end up holding it with my knee. I use a come along, tied to a tree, to par-buckle the big ones on but its slow going.

    Norwood Lumbermate 2000 With Video.

A good friend of mine made a video of me running my little band mill. Its a lot of work but its quicker than the Alaskan. Enjoy. :smile2: Colins LumberMate 2000 - YouTube

    Mini mill and 395

The stock mini mill has not been modified. The full wrap provides a vibration free hand hold. The little rubber chip deflector, that husky sells , does a fine job. enjoy  ‪Mini mill.wmv‬‏ - YouTube

    2 Stihl 090's 50" bar White Ash

If your talking about the speed of the cut; The video clip was 100 seconds, times an inch and a quarter per second, would be 125 inches or 10 feet and 5 inches. That"s bloody impressive.:good:

    Turning a log into lumber

If you have more time than money, do a Google search on how to joint wood with a planer, you can build a sled and surface two sides parallel. If you have more money than time buy a jointer.

    Timber framing

You could get a blunt chisel and carve a Faux date into the lintel over the front door. Something like 1888

    Yet Another Mill...

Is the handle on the mill for pushing or pulling. Cutting with the top of the bar can be exciting.

    Homemade Combo mill

You may wish your bar was 4 inches shorter, when your making the vertical cuts, in 14-18" logs which have just had 2 or 3 inches taken off the top. :);) If you have lots of money you could try a Logosol "Big mill basic" with extensions...

Milled the 26' Douglas Fir 8 X 12 beam today

I am only assuming, and we all know what that does, but wouldn't twist be covered by slope of grain ?

Perhaps the rule is reversed in the southern hemisphere

Milled the 26' Douglas Fir 8 X 12 beam today

There are two kinds of spiral twist, one of which is acceptable for building purposes, while the other may produce major distortions with potential for structural problems. If the twist runs counter to the sun (i.e., right hand),the old-time dictum of the Bavarian carpenter was that this wood...

    Timber Framing w/Pine Questions

Cutting beams is pretty straight forward, Just take lots of time getting the sides at 90 degrees to each other. If they dont come out perfectly there are ways to lay out your joints to allow for imperfections. You could also use an axe and hew some smaller trees by hand, might save...

    Killed the MS880 while milling

This may have been said already. Whatever killed your saw must be fixed before you run it again ! If there is any condition, such as an air leak or fuel starvation that caused the saw to break it will do the same to the new piston/cylinder. Examine everything VERY carefully. There is...

    Cutting Waterlogged Logs

If the ends you cut off the Fir/Spruce logs are still available, try making some cuts. If it is still really hard to cut try cutting a peace of wood you know is relatively easy to cut, using the same chain (dont touch it with a file). If it cuts as it should you know it is the hardness/density...

    Cutting Waterlogged Logs

If the wood has been anywhere near a sandy beach your chain will dull after cutting less than an inch of wood. Were you getting very fine dust ? The sand gets into the bark even though you cant see it. The ends of the log also, because of the structure of wood. If you suspect the wood is...
