    2 stroke testing equipment.

Here are photos of the compression tester adaptor that caused false low readings for me. First shows the adaptor as received - no shrader valve in the end. This effectively increased the combustion chamber volume and low readings. Next to the adaptor is the brass tire valve I machined to fit...

    Paulownia Tree

Does anyone have any experience with growing these from seed? I know some consider them an invasive species - they were introduced around 1844. The seed capsules can also be messy.

Nope, occurred with several chains, some newly sharpened - and they WERE sharp.

Used (not engine) oil as bar lube

I used to use clean motor oil drained from cans. I wondered why my chains always seemed to loosen up while cutting, then I switched to real bar oil and no more loose chains.

Check you message in-box. The smaller spark plug hole indicates it is a newer model. Be aware, if you use an adaptor to check compression, it MUST have the shrader valve in the end the screws into the spark plug hole. If not, the adaptor will increase the apparent combustion chamber volume...

    New from Italy (Rome)

Welcome! I was in Rome a few years ago -beautiful city! I recently worked on a 170 and 181. Is there a particular problem with your saw? By the way, you seem to have a very good command of English.

Why use this when you can real bar oil at Rural king or tractor supply for under $10?

Silver Maple near Driveway - 50/50 fall risk. 2nd opinion.

I see two problems. 1. The tree is in a very poor location - which came first, the tree or the driveway? If the driveway was added later, were roots cut to make room? 2. I see several spots where fairly large branches were cut off. It is a silver maple, slow to compartmentalize wounds and...

Inner seal was bad. All good now, tight as a drum.

    Sp125 leak?

That was it - inner seal very bad. Tight as a drum now. Thanks again!

    Sp125 leak?

Thanks, makes sense. I'll check the inner seal.

    Sp125 leak?

I was chasing down a vacuum/pressure leak on my SP125. See photo - leaking from the hole in the blue circle. When I cover the hole with my finger, no leak. There was a piece of foam covering the hole - as though it's some sort of vent or breather and there is a passageway that angles into the...

    McCulloch Chain Saws

I am going to post this photo in the chainsaw thread. Since there was a piece of foam over the hole, seems like this may be normal - some kind of bleed hole.

    McCulloch Chain Saws

Found it. Leaking though the hole in the blue circle - see pic. On the other side you can see an angled passage going inward. If I cover it with my finger, it holds Vac and pressure. There was a small piece of foam covering the hole. This side uses two seals - an inner seal with the lip...

    McCulloch Chain Saws

I'm tracking down an air leak on my sp125. It always idled fast until it warmed up and then it ran fine but the fast idle concerned me. P&C show no damage or wear. Compression is very strong. I removed the tank as I planned to replace the intake boot anyway - it was ok. I've eliminated the...

My original primer cup looks like 67116. The new cup I installed looks like 24104. I haven't checked rthe oiler cup - the oiler is working fine - but may be on the way out.
