Any idea what type of red oak this is?

Looks like one of the evergreen water oaks, willow oak, peach oak or maybe others.

I need advice on felling large dead oaks

chain goes on the tree and adds a lot of pull when you lift it up off the ground

I need advice on felling large dead oaks

40' of heavy chain and enough rope to get out of the danger zone. Sometimes on a comealong so I have lots of control on the pull and movement. Although I do have 150' of chain! lol

I need advice on felling large dead oaks

I frequently use chains, just the weight alone is enough to pull them over.

    Stihl 390/391 piston cylinder

Are they the same? Brother toasted his 3 yr old 391, dealer tore it down and then pronounced it an epa problem after acknowledging it had plenty of oil. Always heard good things about this saw, brother vows he will never buy another Stihl.

How to hook up a 12v winch to pull logs into a processing table?

I get at best 3 minutes of hard pull off the winch mounted on front of my tractor, 360 amp draw and 560 amp battery and that is with the tractor running. Would a hand crank winch be a better option. Can't be any slower.

    Stihl prices

more of a want than a need. I have a 25" bar on one of my 036pro's, cut a 44" ash with it the other day. Just takes a little longer and I give it a bar oil break once in a while

    Stump killer?

Soft maple appears to be somewhat resistant to Tordon, usually have to recut and retreat in year 2. I cut about 50 osage orange in a drainage ditch today for a buddy. Love to see someone get down there with a stump grinder. I should quit bleeding by tomorrow!
