I remember seeing an original craftsman ad for one of the red 3.7s, and I think they were either 359.99 or 379.99, back in the 80s!

Not sure of the exact years, but yes, they were the last of this series of saw.

Craftsman was the king of power sharp. Didn't matter who built the saws for them.

Roper built saw. Nothing bad at all

First year of the 3400 was 1979 iirc. I'll have to defer to the more knowledgeable guys on here if any craftsman versions had it or not.

I believe it was only on the early models. This is only the 2nd one I've ever seen in person. Somewhere I have a scan of the 3400 manual that ModifiedMark sent me showing the adjustable oiler.

This is the 2nd 3400 that was in that 3 saw buy. Early model 3400 with the adjustable oiler. 145# compression!

With all the 4000s on here, this is my latest one. Came as part of the 3 saw deal Nate mentioned. 3 complete saws (2 3400s and this 4000) for $50. I replaced the starter rope, fuel line. And rear handle on this. Runs perfect!

Nate told me about those, and I almost choked... I was hoping they'd hang around another week so I could gather them up. I hate losing saws from under my nose! Great score, and you suck!

NLA anywhere from my understanding. Few guys have extra sets floating around. I've been off of here a while. Not sure if anyone has found a close match that works with some grinding?

I won't talk about my 3400 series hulk pile. I should have enough good top ends to last a lifetime

You're in hardwood territory. I run 20" on my 3700, and would on a 3400 around here too. All softwood. Not the fastest, but more than enough torque to muscle through it. Oh, one 3400 and the 4000 both have rim drives on them

Most I've ever paid for a 4000 is 135. Got one for $35. In the 3 saw deal I could average the price out, or just say I paid 50 for it and got the 3400s free.

I was stoked I grabbed the 2 3400s and 4000, all with bars, for $50. Both 3400s are pushing 145# cold, and 4000 was at 150 on 3rd pull before the damn starter rope broke (seriously, who uses clothesline as starter rope??) I'm gonna pull the mufflers today and check top end conditions of the top...

Little green score tonight. 2 3400s and a 4000. The 4000 is beat to hell, but all the hard to find parts are there. Luckily I have a good black handle in my pile to fix it up. The 3400 in the middle appears to be an early model and has the adjustable oiler to boot!

A 3400? Around here, they're a $75 saw in good running condition. My 3500? Idk what the market on them is.

Not posting as "for sale" in here, per se, but just an advance of what's going up in the trading post shortly, or eBay.. 3500 timbermaster Pair of Skil 1636.
