Used spider leg rigging and speedline on this medum pine last autumn. The homeowner worked on the ground clearing some branches when I sent the first down the speedline. Even though I asked "Ready?" and thumbs up, there was some kind of misunderstanding. Fortunately, he was not injured! Good...

I was taught to do the diagonal cut first, and have always done it that way. I can understand though, that it is more accurate to do the flat cut first, as it's easier to alter your aim. That said, I guess it's easier to match up the two cuts when making the diagonal first as you can look down...
