    Huge pine tree

i cut trees for a living every day. i can tell you that we would never ever cut a tree just so we could have the wood. it wouldn't matter if it were prime hickory.

So I weighed my load of firewood...

the DOT stands for Dept of Transportation. it's a Federal authiority that patrols highways. talk to anyone that drives for a living and i'm sure they'll tell you that they do exist in kentucky.

    P T O driven splitter

don't forget, he's also talking about firewood business on the side. i think he's expecting waaaaay too much work from that itty bitty tractor.

So I weighed my load of firewood...

the D.O.T. can and will stop you for inspection. if it doesn't pass inspection, it can be tagged "out of service" along with a fine. red tagged. very common.

So I weighed my load of firewood...

the easy part is getting a trailer to move. the hard part is getting it to stop. around here it can get red tagged for not having the brakes connected and working.

    Mods to Log splitter

wow, the guy who built that must not have been much of an engineer. that thing needs some serious re-work to be considered a worthy machine. i would sell that thing "as is" and use the money along with the $350 you were willing to spend on the other splitter, and start over.

    What is this big bug/larve?

    Anyone considered Citrus Firewood business?

i've never even seen a citrus tree. if it's anything like an apple tree, it would be a whole lotta work to get a cord of wood.

    What is this big bug/larve?

i have found them quite often. almost always in maple trees. i thought maybe they were cicada larvae.
