Swinging an axe, left or right handed?

One would assume that you ought to know this :ices_rofl:.

    Good day

There is likely nothing better than a nice rack.

Fun question. What saw should I get next?

I use an 044 with a 25" bar for the most part including limbing. Is it really necessary for the limbing I typically do? No it's not, but at my height it reduces the amount of stoop when limbing so I use it the most to go easier on the back.

    Still burning

Filled it up last night and died out today so this is the first night without a fire. I'm not sure if or when I'll need to make a nighttime fire but it looks a few days off at least.

What saw are you using this year?

Went to get a yellow birch yesterday afternoon with the 260/044 . I got a little hard maple while I was there too. Would have been nice to have had all day so I could have brought the trailer too but it was better than not going at all. I even got to throw a few rounds on the splitter this...

What saw are you using this year?

I cut firewood for years with an 025 18". Nothing wrong with them if you put the RSC chain on and keep it sharp. Very underrated saw in my opinion.

    DHT splitter modified

I have a 27 ton also with the factory log table and this is what worked for me. The nuts never loosened on me and I didn't like the curve either until I drilled holes about an inch back from the original holes on the bottom of the table where the braces go and I'm really happy with it. I split...

What saw are you using this year?

Same as last year for me, MS260 18" and an 044 25".

    Long story simple question

I might question the accuracy of the moisture meter. I had unsplit red oak rounds in a barn without much airflow that were still hissing after 5 years. I only get small amounts of oak and the stuff I got 2 years ago I will burn this winter unless it is mild enough to save. I always let it dry at...

    how much wood is this

I personally make some smaller ones for filling the gaps at night too.

    how much wood is this

It looks roughly 4 cord to me. If you live somewhere cold Id get as much as you have time to pack in there.

    splitter stuck in up position

Spotking, welcome to the madness. Is there a way to take the pin completely out? I have a DHT 27 ton that has a spring with a clip on it which could be similar to yours. Remove the clip/cotter key or whatever yours has to allow it to move through the spring and try to fanagle the pin out of the...

    100 Deg Club 2014-15

Tonight I'll likely make it again. I have -18F outside and 73 inside so I'm already at 91. Unless something changes it's gonna be about -30F tonight. There will be some ironwood and oak going on before I go to bed.

    Michigan new laws

I voted for him so I'm happy he is not going to try to clamp down more on us wood burners. I do have an EPA stove already (which by the way sucks this week because of brutal cold), but I am not going to put one in my garage since the old one in there works just fine.

I'm glad I didn't waste a vote on this guy.

    Secondary Burn

No it is not Cap and Trade. They outright sell the ability to major corporations to pollute more than typically allotted for normal companies. There is not a large number of these sales but they are still in place. Nobody ever claimed you said the EPA was perfect but the fact is they are a...

    Secondary Burn

Your friendly neighborhood EPA sells the rights to pollute in excessive amounts to major corporations. I'm willing to bet that all the woodstoves in the United States don't pollute nearly as much as these "extra" pollution rights alone that are sold by the EPA. If they are looking out for the...

    Secondary Burn

I hear a lot of positive praise about the EPA stoves from the warmer climate folks and I concur, especially when it's milder here. Spider has a valid point as well and I second his opinion from personal experience. One thing I've noticed is I haven't seen a lot of the Canada boys on here talking...

    Secondary Burn

I just did some research of the woodpiles this morning and so far this year I burned about 1/3 of the wood I did last year with the exact same stove and house. I'm going to venture out on a limb here and guess it is because the temp outside is a lot warmer overall than last year at this time. If...
