064 Red light/red eye?????

Hi guys this may be a silly question but is this an 064 redlight? I’m unsure if stihl actually made these but what is that circle above the carb jets? I’ve never seen another 064 with this circle but maybe it is common in your neck of the woods? Thanks in advance

There is no LED fitted is there?
Could have an 066 back fitted to it.

Some 064s did come with the CDIC rev limited coil, but not a red light like the 066.

Yep- the 064 was never a red light saw. It had a CDIC coil similar to the red light 066 for a time (1303 for 066, 1307 for 064).

In my opinion it is nothing special, but if it’s working then I wouldn’t go out and replace it unless you’re modding the saw.

No, it's not rare, and honestly something I would immediately replace if I had one. I hate rev limited coils.

I worked in a Stihl shop from the introduction of the 064 to the 066. The 064 had an unlimited ignition,,but they did introduce a new 064 model with "Digital Ignition" (in Stihl jargon) which had a rev limiter and a red light that came on also. Some professionals hated the limiter and especially the blinking red light,inwhich case I replaced the ignition and flywheel wwith the earlier setup. The digital ignition unit was much larger in size than the original.

Also a quirk of them was some would misfire badly if a non-resistor spark plug was installed.
