084 or 088

This saw is advertised as a 088 Magnum. It supposedly had a new Stihl cylinder installed last year in case that would make any difference. What concerns me is that the decompression valve is on the left side of the saw instead of in the center. All the 088's I have seen have the decompression valve in the center of the saw. Does anyone know if the decompression was ever on the left side on an 088? Could a 084 cylinder have been installed on a 088? Also the muffler is different than what I remember having seen on 088's.

If anyone can help figuring out if this is a 088 or not I would appreciate it.

I posted this down in the chainsaw forum and it is unanimous. The saw is a 084 and not a 088. Too bad as I had arrainged a trade so it would not have cost me any cash.
