Was in the same boat a while back. You are better off converting to a points system. Those electronic modules are very $$$$
The crank doesn’t have a lobe on it. Is it even possible to convert to points ignition? What would actuate the points without changing the crank?
It is a strange design, but the points system works off of the same crank. At least mine did. I just got all the parts off of an older one and swapped it onto mine.
If points will work, I’d like to buy a setup if anyone has one

I had trouble matching mine up. There are 3 or 4 different setups. Would just be easier if you have it.

There are 3, Bosch breaker points, Bosch electronic, and SEM electronic. All the flywheels are tapped the same
Maybe my recoil was just finicky. I swapped it for the older one and didn't have any more problems. Either way you go, the points system is way better.

The starter ring is probably worn, common issue, easy to replace
