Finally got around to tinkering with this old all metal stihl 015 saw. I've built many of these 015s, this white one is from the west germany stihl plant and has been sitting since the early 80s. After some tlc, elbow grease and several hours the saw starts right up, runs strong at 12,500 max rpm and it cuts like butter.

I remember these being sold with a case, wrench, oil, for 119.00 at Christmas. They also offered a hedge trimmer attachment that was before many others...Little Wonder offered an electric and gas that was horribly balanced.
015 and the 020's....lots of good power and exceptional build for the era.

I can certainly tell that you are from that fine 70s era. I wasn't born until 1983 however I love these old saws. I've built many of them and believe that I'm addicted to them. I have some of those old cans of oil from 1973. May sound crazy but I'll take a 48 year old 015 over a brand new $800 ms200t any day. I tuned and mod these 015s so well that they cut like a 200t anyways. Here of some pics of a few 015 saws that I've built in the past.
