3fordasho: That is not siberian elm . . probably red.

272super: Yes Siberian elm has the slime.

I think most will identify these pics as red elm. Yes? No?

Is this from the tree you mentioned earlier with the pics or is this a different tree?

Different tree, this one has been standing dead for several years, the other pic was from a live healthy tree. Thing is I've cut fallen dead limbs from trees were the fallen/dead limb looks like this:
<a href="http://s33.photobucket.com/albums/d75/3fordasho/?action=view&amp;current=DSC03266.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d75/3fordasho/DSC03266.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

But live sections cut from the same tree will look like this:
<a href="http://s33.photobucket.com/albums/d75/3fordasho/?action=view&amp;current=DSC03263.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d75/3fordasho/DSC03263.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

Leading me to believe I've got a lot of red elm around here (doubtfull) or standing dead siberian elm looks alot like red elm and is commonly mis-identified as red elm. What ever it is it burns great and splits good when standing dead. Cut green and seasoned it's not quite the same.
